6'2.75, so if we're splitting hairs, basically 6'3 and 6'9.75, so basically 6'10.
I think this definitely impacts things though. Was really surprised he came in so short, I always though he looked taller and longer out there, was thinking absolute shortest he was going to come in would have been 6'4 barefoot and around a 7 foot wingspan.
More so to me was he sounded kind of Simple Jack country slow and kind of immature nervous/timid in the casual combine interview. Guys like that concern me a little, I feel like a majority of guys like that don't reach their full potential. I get he's silly young and a lot of kids take awhile to come out of their shell, but he just didn't sound like a super confident, alpha kind of guy. He sounds a lot more like a guy who will always defer and be satisfied just playing his role. Not necessarily a negative overall, but a negative if you're hoping he's going to one day be a household name.
The rule of thumb has for years been to add an inch and a quarter to the height without shoes, so he's 6'4. That and his wingspan are pretty much identical to Oladipo. And with his quick leaping ability, he's effectively playing taller than that. There's a reason he blocked 1.6 shots per 40 minutes as a freshman. His size is not a problem, imo. He's a helluva prospect.
Yeah I don't mind his physicals too much, at least if he can become a true guard. At the 2 people seem to get too hung up with height and then we see guys who are short but not midgets, but have great length and athleticism like Mitchell recently, Wade, Ben Gordon, Eric Gordon, etc., come in and dominate at varying levels.
I'm still a little concerned with how simple he sounds, but on the flip side, there have been a lot of guys who sounded like Forrest Gump, but played like him too.
The thing I am concerned with, with his measures, is I hoped he'd eventually be a guy who could play the 2 or the 3 full time, but he's pretty much a guy who has to be a 2 now if you're hoping he's a star or even star role player. 6'4 with a 6'10 wingspan is sufficient at the 2, it's a little meager for the 3, unless we're just talking the occasional switches.
His athleticism is fantastic though, his motor is great, he looks like he'll be able to put more weight and strength on his frame without losing any mobility or burst and even though he sounds dumb, he has a great natural feel for the game, I still love him as a prospect and feel like his hype has almost died after the combine and that's unfortunate for him, but will be a major coup for the team who gets him if he slips into the late teens or early 20's.
