It's obviously not the case and everyone knew that. The point of wanting to keep NN (which I will call it from now on) is to keep ISPs from eventually charging us more on stuff we're already paying for now. To keep ISPs from demanding a "pay for view" package like a $15 extra for unlimited bandwidth Netflix access (on top of the Netflix fee). Or if you want to watch videos on YouTube, a $5 per month package.

NN is basically making sure everyone has access to the information they have access to without restrictions. ISPs won't start making any changes now and if they do, it will be slow and deliberate. They aren't stupid, but you really think these companies spent millions of millions of dollars lobbying for this repel and nothing will happen?

What’s to stop Providers from banning content and raising prices now? And why didn’t they three years ago when there was no NN as u put it?

The FCC chairman said net neutrality rules were based on “hypothetical harms and hysterical prophecies of doom.”

Well, because of the repel...nothing would stop them. They are free to do as they please.

Why do you want to pay more for what you already have access to?

And I remember several years ago some companies (i.e., Comcast and Verizon) got caught throttling/controlling content which is what NN was meant to prevent.

You’re worried about the monopolies have unmitigated power? Well, that would be the government’s fault. It regulated the cable TV business with a heavy hand since its infancy, giving monopoly rights to operators to string cities with coaxial cable. Those policies have been relaxed, so now it’s easier for a new provider — like telephone companies or fiber-upstarts like Google — to create broadband competition. But the market power of entrenched cable operators and the remaining regulatory hurdles still deter new entrants, suppressing the sort of competition that would make broadband companies more mindful of the needs of customers. More red tape is not the answer. I have no intention of paying more for the services I use, and don’t believe I will. The less regulated the internet and all the businesses contributing to it, the more competition, and the cheaper the price with better quality

Nah keep politics out of this

It has everything to do with politics when government agencies created to protect consumer interests are completely beholden to corporate interests. The Trump administration has viciously gutted every kind of consumer protection they can tear down.

The FCC and the EPA as they are now being run are birds of the same feather and their POLITICAL mandate is to remove any obstacle to corporate profits which means removing protections for civilians which is the actual mission of these agencies. They have been perverted under people like Ajit Pai and Scott Pruitt.

This the Swamp x 10.

Ehhh

Saying government needs to stay out of business dealings isn’t pulling political agendas into it IMO. Not for this at least.

...but whatever.

I’m here with some popcorn.

Big business and government team up again to screw the American people. Making America Great Again by restricting internet access instead of access to guns!

That would hardly make them unique. The Bush2 administration was like this. Clinton was like this, in other ways - more towards Wall street. Obama was hardly a crusader against bank malfeasance himself.

Then again, they didn't wrap themselves in the garb of defender of the "common man" as much as Trump. Well, Clinton did for a minute to get re-elected, then could have given a sh*t, same for Obama, though the regular person got a few bones here and there, and Bush2 was fortunate some bad men flew a plane into some buildings so he could ride out 8 years on rah rah patriotism, while simultaneously d*cking the regular person in the ass.

But beside this, I'll keep politics out of it. :D

So untrue

Net Neutrality remained in place under the previous administration. They weren't bought with Celine Dion tickets

The EPA is also being gutted. They just announced they are removing fuel efficiency rules and Trump withdrew from the Paris Accord

Please spare us the noxious rap that all parties are the same. Puh-leeze
