J.I.D. vocally sounds like when Kendrick does when he does that cartoon speed rap...... He's actually legit good.

This whole generation of teens are dressing like villains from Batman Beyond and anime characters.......but what you wear doesn't mean you can't rap.

anyhow, there's better cats coming out this week.

Anyone who cares to listen's to Nas' 7-song joint this Friday can listen to it.

I'm looking forward to Jay Rock's album this Friday.

on another note, I watched a bit of Summer Jam's live stream, while it was generally blah, I had a few observations:

1) Casanova's crazy to see live
2) Swizz Beatz & Timbaland previewed their beat battle. Should be fun to see what happens going forward

Swizz needs to come up off that beat he previewed. That **** was a special kind of tough.

I hope you guys understand that the images these young men are portraying are by design. That’s the way you have to look and act if you want in. Dress yourself up like a clown and embrace feminine characteristics.

And this is what they’re out looking for. Young men willing to do this. The more of these characters they can find the more it becomes accepted.

Accepted that this is the way young minority’s carry themselves. Hip hop was a glimpse into the urban world that many across the country never got to see. The culture was vilified but grew in popularity because people found it interesting. Then things started changing.

This is something I saw developing from the inside. It’s why I don’t really follow it anymore. This culture that I saw blossom from it’s infancy, a culture that I was active in, was taken away. Because it became too powerful. People began to sympathize. Across the country people began to mimic urban culture.

All of a sudden the young black, Hispanic, poor, from the projects, we became the most popular culture in the world. Just years after the government tried to shut us down. Even the president got involved. The natural defiance of growing up in this environment over powered the resistance to silence us.

So they took it. Because they couldn’t stop it. They took it and began controlling it.

Then it became about what are you willing to do for fame and money.

This is why the black face photo makes me so upset. Because it’s a perfect example of what they were doing. They took the urban culture from the people and began shopping for characters to portray it in a way they were comfortable with. A way they found acceptable.

That black face photo is just a tiny exposed example of what the business was trying to do with the image of the young black man in this country.

What do I mean by that? They were looking for people not from that environment but look like they could be. That had no pride in who they were. And were willing to do anything to get the opportunity to get themselves in the light.

“This is the voice of our inner city minority youth”

“They dress like clowns, mumble incoherent sentences, are very feminine, and do hard drugs”

They’re making fun of us.
