Knox avg 15pg at 18yrs old for a top program, THAT indicates potential

Brandon Knight averaged 17, 4, 4 for Kentucky.

Yep, which is why he was a lotto pick, a starting NBA guard, and signed a 5yr 70 mil contract

Not gunna lie. The facts Knox would be 22 in 3 years is kind of tempting. Then again if Kp was 25 now would we really be upset ?

Mikal is like a smaller more athletic shane battier. You know what you are going to get. However you guys talk about how he improved under excellent college coaching in 3 years. Knox improved also, specifically his release on his jumper. So dont compare 22 year old mikal to knox. Compare knox to a 19 year old mikal.

Bottom line is this. We arent gonna be good this year and will be in the lottery again. You dont want a shane battier imho. You can find 3 and D guys who are 6'6. What is much harder to find is combo forwards with the potential of knox. You draft on potential. Who is going to be better 2-3 years later? If we were a playoff team I understand taking the safe pick. But we are not. I'm ok with mikal, I want to make sure I make that clear. However I perfer a higher upside prospect. Emila okafor and shane battier are nice players, but in the lottery you go for thr guy with the highest upside. At least in my opinion.

its hard to predict who will be better between knox, miles and mikal i think there each more than capable of being better than the other. Mikal right now looks like the most valuable safest pick

Don't you think Knox will be better at 22 than Mikal?

Both Bill Simmons and Kevin O'Connor say Knox will be better at 22 than Mikal at 22 years old.

Knox‘s questions are not talent related . They are more drive relate (taking plays off and such).

You would be less excited just because it would be unlikely KP would ever fill out his frame to a sufficient degree to play center full time. Three years is a loong time.

Great post as evidenced by the And1s. To piggy back, I'm not so sure Franks best position wont be that of point forward/sf. (I am overly impressed with his growth this summer) And have a scoring PG (KI?). In that scenario, Knox is the better pick. IJS....And it allows KP to move to C as I think Knox will ultimately grow into a modern day PF

Most young players have attention issues. One thing I think about fizdale he is going to givr the kind of discipline that our young players need. (Especially mudiay, if fiz can't fix him he is a lost cause)

Wonder if we could swing something like Courtney Lee + 36th for Mo Harkless and 24th for a chance at Kevin Huerter.

I say stay pat and draft at nine or throw the kitchen sink to get doncic. Throw in another first along with our 9th and secound rounders.

My view is similar. We should approach this draft in a manner that’s consistent with the long term rebuild and a plan through 2019/20.

Next year’s draft looks wing heavy. So presumably there will be better options to address our needs at small forward in the 2019 draft with a top 5 or so pick than what will be available to us at 9 this year.

The backcourt of the future looks likely to consist of Frank plus a 2019 free agent (Kyrie or Klay), with a THJ that hopefully approaches his Hawks iteration as 6th man.

KP at the 4/5, obviously.

That suggests to me that we should be aiming for Wendell Carter Jr. if he’s available to form a nice big tandem with KP.

2019-2020 NYK:

KP
WC
2019 wing
Frank
Kyrie or Klay

Personally, I like the potential of that squad.

basically the 2012/2013 with prime melo as a scoring champ and mvp candidat, tyson as a D player of the year and prime felton who is solid.

And then big upgrade with prime-allstar-spree and wilson chandler instead of j.r. and shump.

would love this squad!

We are not talking about most young people here (and I'm not trying to be smart with you). The guy has star potential and his lack of drive and off ball effect is noticeable. We are talking that he can blow it, but at least he doesn't appear to be at the Eddy Curry level.
