It'll be foolish not to take Doncic if at #3. You'll get all that European revenue and make the Hawks a spectacle of sorts. Doncic is the kind of player that will attract free agents if he develops like he's suppose to.

I'm cool with Luka, just not really cool with the wiretap headline, as if folks could move along already.
Where the offseason has more buzz happens.

Doncic and Bridges would be quite a haul. Getting into that range will also maybe let us get one of the "big 3" PGs that's left over between Young, Sexton or Gilgeous-Alexander.

#3 Doncic
#12/13 or 14 Miles Bridges (Mikal still my boy but he won’t last and Miles is a better fit I think with Doncic).
Who goes best if we land Doncic?
Miles Bridges
Lonnie Walker
Robert Williams

It gets worse -- JJJ has apparently pulled the same move:
It is a bit disconcerting to see so many young big men decline to even speak with Grizz. I wonder if it's fit on the court, dislike of the city or distrust of the ownership situation.
NOTE: Grizzlies franchise has been dealing with this for years.

I think Lonnie Walker is the perfect athletic, scoring wing to pair with Doncic and Taurean.
At worst, he's an electric 3 & D player capable of guarding 1s and 2s.
At best, he's a three level scorer who prevents opposing defense from loading up on Luka in the half court.
Miles Bridges and Doncic would be nice also, just mismatches across the board as Luka can play 1-3 and Miles can play 2-4.
NOTE: Miles is not a great ballhandler, but is an amazing finisher in transition and on alley-oops.

If the Suns were to now suddenly pass on Ayton, does that jersey immediately become priceless?

Re: Absurdly early 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Nice scouting report on a potential draft target at PG:
The StepienElie Okobo
Okobo is going to ride his pull-up jumper as far as it can take him. He’s a nasty off-dribble flamethrower with range out to the NBA line and a quick lefty release that is tough to contest. That pull-up is what unlocks the rest of his offense, as it forces defenses to pressure him tightly. This is crucial to his creation out of the pick-and-roll, as he’s quick enough to punish defenders who are trying to fight over screens against him and a smart enough passer and good enough finisher to either go to the hoop or hit the roll man. Still learning the point guard position, Okobo struggles to anticipate the defense at times, but he has made massive strides considering he’s only played point guard full time for 10 months. He doesn’t have top-shelf burst, so he needs the threat of his jumper to break defenses down, but he’s quick enough to capitalize when he gets daylight. His physical tools (6-foot-3 with a 6-foot-8 wingspan) should allow him to defend two positions in the NBA and potentially play next to another ball handler where his shot can be leveraged as a gravitational threat. However, he rests far too often on defense, falling back into bad habits and not asserting himself; though when he does lock in, he’s a switchable defender who can make an impact. Shot-makers like Okobo with his physical tools don’t grow on trees, but he’ll have to improve his handle and decision-making ability to play point full time in the NBA. I’ll bet on him doing so, as he’s made massive strides over the past year, and my confidence in that is why I am higher on him than most.

Bleacher ReportFinal 2018 NBA Draft Big Board:
7. Wendell Carter Jr. (Duke, C, Freshman)
Already equipped with a powerful, long NBA body (6'10", 251 lbs), Wendell Carter Jr. enters the league with a tremendous skill level and feel for the game.
He's advanced in the post, both with his footwork and passing. And when set, Carter shows shooting touch from the mid-range out to the arc.
His rebounding, shot blocking and finishing success point to a physical, imposing presence around the basket. But if he can continue building on his perimeter game—specifically his jump shot and defensive quickness—Carter could be the next Al Horford and one of the top five players from this class.

You wanna combine my boy (Luka not Mikal..) with ur boy Wendy? That’s actually a pretty solid start. We get an all around baller like Doncic and a solid center to start this off...I prefer Bamba with Doncic but beggars can’t be choosers..

Yeah, that'd be a pretty nice set of foundational pieces.
NOTE: I might even prefer Wendell at Center -- Taurean at PF -- and Doncic at SF...bringing Collins off the bench or dangling him in trade.

I doubt it has anything to do with the city. Memphis is set to rebuild for many years if they continue as is and considering how the Western Conference is only getting stronger.Jamaaliver wrote:macd-gm wrote:I don't know. Dallas wants our pick so they can draft Doncic. We have started to act as if Doncic is our priority but it could very well be a smokescreen to gain as much value for our pick as possible.

Oddly, I think the issue may be the fact that MEM apparently wants to remain competitive. It's just misguided imho. They appear to be planning on continuing to wheel Conley and Gasol out thus prolonging the madness. That may be more of a turn off than if they were indeed set to rebuild.
