Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Zhaire Smith seems to be trending up, lot of love on Twitter right now.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

I hope so but I don’t see how

No. I don't see them doing anything that matters on draft night. They are in a holding pattern until FA starts. The only intriguing thing on draft night will be if Kawhi gets moved. The Spurs can mess up a lot of plans by holding off on moving Kawhi until late July or August because it could cause a holding pattern for LeBron, Philly and others.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Agree with Kizz that they hold tight on this draft but it really depends what OKC personnel saw who in what workout. The thing that makes me hesitate is Adams and Ferguson might be the only pieces outside of Russ that could net us a FRP and hopefully our FO would rather keep the two of them than roll the dice on draft night when FRPs are super expensive.
Just for my own curiosity I went back and looked at drafts from 2011-2016 and counted up all the non-goobers in the 50-60 range for each year.
2011 - IT, E'twuan Moore, Deandre Liggins (borderline goober status)
2012 - None, however Kyle O'Quinn was #49
2013 - James Ennis, Joffrey Lauvergne, Lorenzo Brown (borderline goober status)
2014 - None, exclusively goobers
2015 - None, exclusively goobers
2016 - Joel Bolomboy (think the Bucks have him since he plays on the herd, definitely a non-goober imo), Ty Wallace
2017 had some late season flashes from Alec Peters but most of those dudes haven't played in the NBA or haven't shown anything noteworthy.
So total, that's EIGHT NON-GOOBERS out of SIXTY late 2nds (nine if you count O'Quinn). Meaning with this sample size there's somewhere between a 13.3%-15% chance that your 50-60 pick becomes a solid rotation level guy. OKC probably gets two of those dice rolls and that'll be an evening.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
I wouldn’t be opposed to moving Patterson if it help us move up in the draft.

I doubt he would bring back too much.

With both second rounders I think we might be able to get an earlier pick in the second round.

2 2nd rounders and Patterson would get you up in the 2nd round. But, Patterson is a guy the Thunder can play at the 4 and he fits. Is a 2nd rounder going to be able to come in and compete? The idea is to get Paul George to resign. I dont think trading the potential starting 4 for a 2nd round pick will help that case.
Who do you want in the 2nd that you want to trade up?

If George comes out and says Patterson was a deciding factor for him, I’ll get you a gift card to any restaurant of your choice wherever you may live. If George returns it’s because of Russ, Andre and Adams.
If there is anyone the FO believes can be a contributor long term and is being overlooked, I trust their judgement. If the same person could be acquired for singler or Abrines, even better. I would much prefer to get the bulls 2RP or another team for cash considerations but I’m trying to be realistic.

I dont think George leave becasue of Patterson. But to deal a rotation guy for a 2nd rounder - that 2nd rounder better hit.
I do think the team will be very aggressive to acquire talent.

Does everyone here think that Melo will opt in and we will buy him out?

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
Would anyone be shocked if we moved into the last few picks of the first and then selected Jarred Vanderbilt?

It is possible. It is also the worst case scenario. You take the full cap/tax hit and don't even have a player on the roster.

I know. I feel like we shouldn't buy him out until after the deadline. Even if we just tell him to go home and wait for a trade.

I would be suprised that we could get into the first round rather than the player.

Refresher on who he is?

Athletic defender who can dunk, rebound, and doesn't know what offense actually is.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Thread
What’s your somewhat realistic, best case scenario for tomorrow? I’m leaning towards a scaenario that gets us okobie or Kyrie Thomas. There are multiple others I would love to have that are late first to early seconds.

I would be dancing in the streets for Okogie, really excited for Thomas. I’d take any of the following players and be pretty happy
Okogie
Thomas
Shamet
Frazier
Kenrich Williams
Rawle Alkins
Kurucs
Diallo
Musa
Return to Oklahoma City Thunder
