Can you imagine if Cleveland loses Bron, but isn't awful. Dallas is bad, but not awful. We are garbage.

Could end up with something like 1, 7, 12 in the first along with either the Cleveland or Lakers 2nd (whichever one is worse).

it a 5 year protection:
Top 5 protected in 19/20, top 3 in 21/22, and unprotected in 2023.

I honestly don't think it conveys for 2019. Probably best it conveys for 2020.

Problem is that even if we knew the level of DAL next season, if they don't make the playoffs, they can be the 7th worst team, and be selected in the lottery like SAC this year.

So I guess all the people excited about 5+ picks in 2019 believe quantity >>quality. Got it.

Just to put in perspective, Anfernee Simons was projected to go mid lottery in 2019. He went 24 this year.

It’s crazy we’re already in forget mode. Doncic has a higher floor than any player in the draft. Even if he busts, his size and skills alone will still make him serviceable. If Young busts, we’re left with a 6’2” scrub. Hell, if Young isn’t the next Curry and only a fraction of Doncic’s game translates, we lose this trade.

We need to remember this game is mental too. Hawks gambled big in the trade which put tremendous pressure on Young to become Curry 2.0. Not to mention his burden of forever being compared to Doncic for the rest of his career. Young’s success will be measured by how mentally tough he is. Only time will tell.

From Madrid to Dallas.

Seems like the ideal fit for the Euro sensation.

This is good for the NBA.

This was a throwback draft which included 2 great playmakers

Doncic (Magic/Bird)

Trae (Zeke/Nash)

I had a hard time comparing Doncic to anyone in today’s game but he’s got the Magic flare to his game.

Trae is a scoring point guard. That means I couldn’t end the comparison with Nash. As good as Nash was, he wasn’t known as a scoring point guard. That’s why I had to pepper in a lil Isiah Thomas (Zeke). He compares more favorably to me because he was more of a scorer like Trae.

Hawks fans should be happy right now. We drafted the best scorer and assist guy from college in Trae, we complimented that with the Huerter pick as he’s a knockdown sg as well (draft’s 3rd best shooter) and then we tripled down on that with the Spellman pick at center.

If nothing else, we have a plan as to who we want to be, and are building towards that. Apparently we are aiming to shoot a ton of threes.

I had Trae as my 3rd or 4th guy. I definitely wanted Bagley or Doncic but I’m in no way upset with this trade. I would have liked to squeeze out more from the Mavs though. Like Donnie Nelson might have given up his daddy’s Hawaii real estate for Doncic as well. The Nelson’s love Hawaii this time of the year.

Oh I just want to add in about my initial 2 guys of the draft Doncic and Mikal. I believe I truly loved their games and that’s why I was drawn to them...but last night I found out I was apparently subconsciously in love with their moms!

You love yourself some international spice eh Jamaal? Musa kick looks like a sniper.

The cool thing about drafting Trae is we are gonna be drafting and signing a ton of snipers!

Yall know my opinion on his family.

I don't think he had a choice on what he wore.

From what I have heard from Schlenk and others, the getting of the pick was HUGE. It seems like movement of firsts, including futures, is not something people really want to give up. I think that is part of the reason why we didn't see a ton of salary dumps during the draft. To jump from 16 to 10 cost the Suns Miami's 2021 unprotected 1st.

The whole family dressing alike reminds me of that time when your whole family wears white and khaki for the pictures on the beach or all dresses in pastel pink and blue for Easter photos.
