And you know what's funny? I think LeBron knows that. He isn't stupid. He understands they have no assets and that their cap situation is crap. This is probably just a ploy by him so he could say, "Well, I TRIED!" when he ultimately bolts for Los Angeles.

Yeah, I actually said the same this morning on the general board. He has the I want to compete and had no choice narrative to fall back on. I'm just wondering what happens if LA can't get things to go their way this off season.

I think he's going to LA no matter what. Remember: both PG13 and Kawhi can become free agents next summer regardless of what happens over the next month. I can see George taking a 1+1 deal from OKC and then bolting for LA next offseason. Who knows what will happen with Kawhi, but I have a feeling that situation is going to drag out for a long time.

You could be right, but I doubt that Lebron wants to waste another season.

I definitely get that and I have actually been preaching that narrative myself, but I think Los Angeles is the exception for LeBron. He has a couple of homes out there and will probably end up living there when it's all said and done.

Doesn't sound like it's 100% just about winning for Lebron. Himself and his inner circle people (including Wade) claim a large part of his decision is lifestyle and family. Wife and kids and where he lives and what happens off the court is going to be important too.

I think LA probably ends up with 1 or 2 players joining him there anyway most likely. CP3, PG, Kawhi....something is probably going to shake out.

Really sounds to me like the Lakers and I get the feeling the long shot of him staying in Cleveland is to make Cavs fans still feel happy.

I just wish he could announce it asap........but it will be dragged out. :nonono:

On a side note, I think the Boston Celtics have a pretty HIGH chance barring disaster of being back in the NBA finals. :D Going to be very important though IMO that Irving is healthy for it, his scoring in the finals is going to be key.....he's been there a lot before. We will NEED him. In a contract year I am expecting him to go all out.

Still think it's the Warriors/Celtics right now unless Lebron makes a super team but I am not as sold yet on the Lakers thing over taking the Warriors in year 1.

I wonder if LAC could do something based on:

Gallo ($22.6M)
Boban ($7M)
Robinson ($2.5)
Dekker ($2.8)
Future picks - lots and lots of them. Most of that is just salary.

For LeBron ($35.6M) opted in.

Not sure why on earth CLE would want that, though... Would say add SGA, but they got Sexton, so probably not.

If they did and resigned some people:

Beverly / SGA / Teodosic
Bradley / Williams
Harris / Johnson
LeBron / ???
DeAndre / ???

Get some vet mins, swing a trade with MEM or SAC for some bigs, etc.

Eh, still not that great a squad, and a horrible deal for CLE. Felt like there should have been more there....

ETA: That would be a heck of a defensive squad, though. Assuming health.

Yeah, I know. I just also know that Lebron's mind can change quickly if the LA master plan doesn't go as expected. I am pretty sure it is his mostly likely destination too.

Sixers will look really bad if they cleared that space by dealing Bridges and don't get Lebron or a max guy.

That was an awful PR move, but that could be a juicy pick in 2021 to rival some of the ones we've got coming up

It’s a long time from now. Olynyk will be a cagey grizzled bet by then he will will the heat to 40 wins himself.

Well then maybe you shouldn't have ran Kyrie out of town or torpedoed your team's cap situation just so your little buddies could get paid.

I fully expect to see both LBJ and Paul George in Laker purple, I think 2 things are at play, by being coy they max their current influence over Magic but also, more importantly the current theater helps cover for LAL tampering, probably more than one team is fed up with it, just my opinion

Brett went long. traded for 2 shots at catching a star. Miami pick has some shelf life.

Porter was a ballsy pick by the Nuggets. If he pans out how good could he be? He was widely accepted as the top prospect at one point very recently. Higher ceiling than a guy like Tatum...

Denver could be tough with Jokic, Murray and a healthy PorterJR.

I really liked the move. Ainge got one over on the Sixers, but they pull another good one off here.

They also have that unprotected heat pick to offer up in a Kawhi trade now too. Cold hearted but good trade by the sixers

Disagree, as do most post draft media sites. They've made a few biggest losers in the draft lists.

Return to Boston Celtics
