Re: 2018-2019 College Basketball / '19 NBA Draft Thread
I'll take this opportunity to thank yourself, Kobble, and other posters in the previous college bball threads throughout the past year. There's obviously been differences of opinion in that time but overall its been a robust and fairly (overall) civil debate that will hopefully continue in future threads.
The guys who pay close attention to college ball are great contributors here (Negrodamus, Kolkmania, Kobble etc) but even the cursory college fan who contributes on this forum is worth reading. We're all 76er fans at the end of the day and want the best players from the amateur ranks to represent Philly in the NBA. Hopefully we'll all keep that in mind going forward, even if there are arguments over who exactly those players are during the coming year.

While this draft has been described as weak in terms of depth, if guys like Hunter pan out as expected it will be sneaky strong around this time next year.
Weak in terms of big men, but the game is moving away from the big man positions anyway.

Jarrett Culver, Zhaire's teammate, will likely take the reins in Lubbock and blow up big time. I was a bigger fan of his than Zhaire. He's a guy I'm looking out for in the next draft.

Agreed, he was another one I was disappointed didn't nominate this year.

Prediction none of the Duke guys go #1. Dislike all three of them.

Wish Reddish and Barrett weren't going to the same school. While there's value to playing with other great players, I'd rather see them both in primary roles. Barrett at Oregon specifically would have been fun.

Oshae Brissett intrigues me a lot entering his sophomore campaign.
- He already has the size and instincts to be a quality NBA defender.
- His jumper lacks consistency, but it is very workable.
- He draws fouls like a machine (6 free throw attempts per game).
- He can handle and create a little, although he is a bit clunky on the ball.

I read somewhere that drawing fouls and getting to the line is one of the least transferable stats from college to pro ball.

Biggest topic we need to discuss here is if this draft class is really weak as they say.
I dont know these guys except for zion and barrett. Seems like its deep on wings. And we know that an average wing is better than a good big in today's game

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

If he can work out some kinks with his shot he's super interesting.
I really like Nasir Little and De'Andre Hunter. Cameron Reddish is potentially the best player in the draft, but he's so damn frustrating to watch at times, floats a lot.

I really want a look at this draft. I like rj Barrett, cam reddish, keldon Johnson, and romeo Langford. Would be willing to give up dario, cov and cap space for 2019 picks if we cannot get our sfotf. The sac, dal, and mem picks look premium.

Re: 2018-2019 College Basketball / '19 NBA Draft Thread
Marvin Bagley was counted as the standout prospect for 2019 until he reclassified and for a lot of us he was a fairly long way from that in 2018. So that says something about the top of the draft.
To balance that you've got the returnees, some of whom we've mentioned like Culver and Hunter; Tillie probably would have been top 25 this year if he'd nominated, Hachimura looked better at the end of this season just gone so if players like them improve markedly it could be an OK draft.

Not jabbing, I think Waters is incredible. I don't want to evoke the usual tiny star G names as a comparison, but I'll say that Frank Mason will be his absolute floor. I think he's a quality pro, for sure.
