The Knicks "true" expirings this year are:

Baker $4,544,400
Mudiay $4,294,480
LFT - sort of, I think he's got 1 million guaranteed for season after - close enough - $7,119,650

Kanter - if he opts in $18,622,513

CLee is $12,253,780 for 2 more years
Noah is $18,530,000, up to 19,2 for 2 more years

Knicks free up 66 million over 2 years. Obviously they'll have to pay out to some guys on the team, particularly KP, within that time period.

thebuzzardman wrote:So, here's what I have as the Knick's roster, plus the two way slots:
(vaguely on perception of who'll start but who knows, right?)

PG: Frank/Burke/Mudiay
SG: THJr/CLee/Dotson/Baker/Trier (2 way) Fiz said THJr and CLee "too small" for SF...for what that's worth
SF: Knox/Williams
PF: KP/LFT/Hicks
C: Kanter/Kornet/Robinson

That's 15 plus 1 "2 way", unless Hicks is put on a 2 way again - or Kornet

Some notes:
Knicks are heavy at SG and light at PF, because LFT is barely a PF and Hicks is raw
CLee for Faried makes sense - for the Knicks at least, to reduce guard glut and get a real PF on the roster
Knicks would have to cut or make Hicks/Kornet a 2 way player to sign any FA

Maybe it needs it's own topic, but figured I'd post it here.

Would really like to see Mario H on the team, in that swing SF/PF role LFT is in, but with LFT gone. At least sign him to have him for the slot next year.

That rotation should ensure the #1 pick next year. Oh boy this team is going to be terrible.

We already have Dotson, this kind of feels gratuitous. I'd kill for an elite rebounding rook right about now (even if that was his only skill)

Trier could have a similar opportunity with the Knicks next season, which is likely a major reason why he chose New York over the other offers he received. Trier’s agent, James Dunleavy, said via text message on Friday that Trier had “multiple teams” offering to draft him in the second round and sign him to a two-way deal. “But we felt New York was the best fit for him and they showed the most interest of anyone during the predraft process, so going undrafted and signing with them was the best option for him,” Dunleavy said. “He had multiple two-way offers elsewhere and we agreed that New York was the best fit for him. He’s excited to get to New York and show them what he’s capable of.” Dunleavy said the Knicks even gave strong consideration to drafting Trier at No. 36, though they chose Mitchell Robinson.

Trier is a guy who is a 'smallish' 6-5 with PG speed and quickness that can break down the defense, dish or finish and get to the line. He played mostly off ball as a SG at Arizona and even with that he was averaging more than 3 apg.

If he was tasked to play the 1 he would most definitely have more assists since he's got great vision and can make all the passes plus his defensive liabilities might be hidden more than against SGs.

It's obviously wait and see with rooks and he has a rough road ahead to prove himself but he fits the mold of the modern PG especially the way they are being used with guys like Harden, Curry and such.

Interesting, that he was on Ostarine. For those who don’t know it was marketed as muscle builder without the side effects of anabolic steroids. I don’t think he accidentally took it, it sounds like he was trying to gain an edge. Sarms work but they aren’t on the same level as anabolic steroids and do have side effects for some people. Not a good sign in my book but maybe he can put that behind him.

Trier went undrafted Thursday after a college career marred by testing positive twice for a PED. Trier’s second suspension, after an appeal, was lifted quickly when it was ruled the trace amount of Ostarine could have been leftover remnants from his first suspension as an Arizona sophomore.

Hopefully it's behind him and he doesn't make those dumb mistakes again. I'll be rooting for him. He can be an exciting player at times so hopefully he keeps working hard and keeps getting better and finds a spot on the team in the future. If anything, he becomes a really nice change of pace guard in the 2nd unit.

After taking a closer look at Trier since the draft, this guy could end up being a big steal on a 2 way contract. This was a kid with 1st round talent a couple of years ago that got caught up in something stupid like PEDs and lost his luster after the suspension. He had a very solid season at Arizona this year with splits of .500/.380/.865 and averaged 18 points on just 11 shot attempts a game. His game kind of reminds me of James Harden's. Not saying he is on the same level of course. He is a crafty ball handler who can get to the basket, finish or draw contact to get to the line and find his space to knock down the 3. He has PG experience so he can see the floor well and make the extra pass. Like Harden though he struggles on defense but his offense and efficiency keep him on the floor. I'm looking forward to seeing what he and the rest of the guys can do in a couple of weeks in Summer League and through the rest of the season.

This was a game I really liked against Sexton and Alabama this season. 25 points 4 rebounds 6 assists and 1 big block . The 25 points came on 6 shots and 16 free throw attempts. He is Mr. Efficient and makes his shots count.

It wouldn't surprise me if he winds up being on a regular contract by opening day and is in the rotation off the bench. He's a mature player, smart, just a plug and play guy.

I have read a bit more on the guy and he has a chance to be a player, especially if he can pick up the defensive intensity.
Scoring 18 a game is nothing to sneeze at, and at a good clip from the last video on him I saw mentioned.

I like this pick and it might be better than the Knicks number 2 pick.

This guy check some important boxes I look for in a draft pick, base on his scouting report. He can score in a variety of ways, he is a good shooter and a good free throw shooter. I haven't seen him play a full game, so I can't say for sure if this is a good pick, but I like what I read. Defense is 50% effort and a good coach should be able to bring that out. I'm not big on undrafted players, but we shall see.

I don't know if anyone posted this yet but Trier has some Harden in him.
