What a mistake. If you're going to be a second wheel do it with the best player in the world and the home team. Didn't even meet with the Lakers, OKC won't win anything in the Western Conference! Have fun constantly losing in the first round, Paul.

Probably didn't want to be part of the circus that Bron brings with him; and if Ball is there to? Have fun playing basketball fielding oddball questions about bron and ball all year.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Re: Around the NBA 10
So basically, LeBron recruited Chris Paul to the Lakers. Earlier it was floated that Chris Paul was recruiting LeBron to Houston and then that LeBron was recruiting superstars to the Cavs. All BS. Spurs better stand strong and force a godfather return for Kawhi. Don't let these primadonnas crap all over your fans. Paul + LeBron isn't a superteam. But Lakers already put Spurs on notice that they're willing to wait one year (for Kawhi presumably). I pray the Celtics or Sixers outbid the Lakers and win over Kawhi.

Re: Around the NBA 10
In my opinion, we are the ones holding back the Lakers superteam. If Lakers were able to get Kemba, then Lebron and Kawhi would go there for sure. But, right now, what PG options do they have? Do they really want to rely on Lonzo Ball to be their PG in the playoffs?

Yeah and the GM they fired after all his service and championships is going to make that happen. What a load. Chris Paul is wanting to join LeBron, but he's waiting on Kawhi. Both are. It is the Spurs that stand in the way. Thus the Lakers posturing about waiting one more year, presumably to sign Kawhi whose camp publicly announced Kawhi prefers to sign with the Lakers, while currently uunder contract with the Spurs. It's the equivalent of Kemba announcing that he prefers to sign with the Cavs. The Hornets would lose all bargaining power with every other team. In this case, I would make him wait one year. I'd deal him for pennies on the dollar to a very crappy team in a very crappy location, make him suffer for one year. I'd send him to the Sacramento Kings.

I'm guessing with Paul George staying and Chris Paul staying, the Lakers struck out. I don't see LeBron going there for Kawhi. Are the Sixers in contention if they sign Tyreke Evans? Are the Rockets in contention?

Carmelo is going to get stretched. If we can trade MKG/Marvin for a point guard it wouldn't be a terrible idea to kick the tires on him.

Kupchak and Borrego have addressed a gap in the backcourt while Kupchak described clutter in the front court. I can see the rationale for a 2-1 deal with Marvin/MKG going with Frank for a backcourt player. A 2-1 consolidation move of Marvin + MKG for one frontcourt piece works as well, considering MLE can be used to fill the gap in the backcourt. I don't think Melo fits uptemp though. He pounds the ball the exact opposite of what Borrego recommended.

The Thunder aren't going to trade him. They'll save 90 million in tax penalties by stretching him. So if he signs here and doesn't play team ball we could just cut him.

I see. What's the cost of signing him?

Something a little over the veteran's minimum probably. I imagine the team would have to pay a tad more to outbid other interested parties.

Only way they trade him would be something like, Hornets send Marvin to a team for a non guaranteed contract, send MKG to a different team for a non guaranteed contract, those non guaranteed contracts to OKC, Melo to Hornets

NY Post reported the Lakers remain frontrunners for LeBron but the Spurs want a Celtics-Nets package for Kawhi and the Lakers haven't been able to satisfy San Antonio. The Post noted the Sixers remain a possibility.

Woj also mentioned not ruling out Philly

It would take something more to sell him on an upstart team but out of all the collections of players rumored to join forces with LeBron, the Sixers are built for sustainable success. If I'm the Celtics, I dive into the Kawhi sweepstakes.

Re: Around the NBA 10
Hayward for Kawhi might interest the Spurs. Plus Celtics have SAC and Memphis picks. They definitely would have to answer LeBron going to the Sixers. If Kyrie loses to him, it could damage the Celtics' chances of retaining Kyrie.

The Suns can put together the best package for Kawhi, my money is on them.

I think they're better off unloading Warren's contract for Kevin Love's expiring deal. They really need to get a PG. They match up with the Cavs if they want to pick that carcass.

The Spurs are overloaded with guards and need wings. The Suns are overloaded with wings and need guards. I could see the Spurs dumping Mills with Kawhi and getting back Jackson, Bender, and Dudley.
