I don't consider Gordon Hayward a star. He is a good player. The only true star on the celtics is Kyrie Irving, with maybe Jayson Tatum. You need at least two to three stars to win in th NBA.

Look at the Warriors for example.

Kevin Durant- Star

Klay Thompson- Allstar

Draymond Green- Allstar.

Celtics just need one more star to be able to compete with the warriors. The road to winning a championship goes through the warriors for now.

Philly isn't going to just disappear in 3 years if this gets done. Simmons, Kawhi, Embiid, old man LeBron and whoever is left after the trade could still be plenty relevant 3 years from now.

With our 2 young guys developing I doubt we can't overcome this. I mean LBJ is showing signs of slowing down, especially in the playoffs. And he will have to change his style a lot to play with these guys. Doubt they will be happy to sit around while he dribbles down the clock on most every possession.

If Tatum and Brown become legitimate all-stars before the decline of our current core then we start racking up championships, but that's certainly no guarantee. Brown can't even hit free throws at a decent rates, or drive without dribbling off his feet. Tatum could easily be at all-star level within the next 2 years though.

Sure LBJ is slowing down a little, but on a team surrounded by talent he'll be able to rest more in the regular season and earlier rounds of the playoffs. The Cavs ran him into the ground last year.

Brown's FTs are a mental issue. I think he will be good at them next year. He's a solid shooter and definitely improved his handles from last year. Showing development is the most important thing here. Even with all his flaws 18 pts in the playoffs, 38% from 3. He should be on his way to being an All-Star, too.

Philly ought to trade Simmons+ for Kawhi anyway, whether they get LeBron next or not. He'll never shoot. His value is at its highest coming off a ROY campaign. Matching salaries you can attach some players you want off the books anyway. If LeBron doesn't come to play with Embiid/Kawhi, someone else could.

i don't think brown will ever get near to where leonard is at. leonard is a naturally gifted elite basketball player, brown is an athlete. the fact that he's 22 compared to leonards 27 means nothing to me. i will take the guy who IS a superstar entering his prime over a guy who has all star potential(brown), and even a guy who has superstar POTENTIAL(tatum). if the spurs want tatum so bad, then c's should deal him. losing tatums shooting would suck, but they would gain talent, and an absolute dog in kawhi.

Dude. If Philly gets everyone, so what? Lebron 33. They sorta don’t fit. We are still a legit shot with our team.

That said, LA is getting Lebron. There can’t be a worse fit in the nba than Simmons and Lebron. If I was Philly, Lebron commits, Simmons to San An for Kawahi. Then, get shooters such as reddick back in Philly.
