New York Knicks: David Fizdale says Mitchell Robinson has no rust

https://dailyknicks.com/2018/07/05/new-york-knicks-david-fizdale-mitchell-robinson-rust/

According to Marc Berman of The New York Post, coach Fizdale made a significant observation about Robinson following a Las Vegas practice: He’s yet to show signs of rust.

“No, I have not seen rust. As crazy as it is. I was just talking to [player developmental director] Craig Robinson about it. I was going to think this kid’s timing would be off or there would be a lot of stuff we have to stop for him and teach. Kid’s got pretty good feel for the game.”

Crazy...this guy was being trained DAILY by an NBA level trainer who apparently works with AD...not some random middle school basketball coach..

Lets hope these guys get EVERY Chance possible to sink or swim likely to sink and swim.
Hes another example of a player who bet on himself

good on him

and on us for believing in him

Are you Mitchell? Just give me an emoji head bob if so. We can keep this low key.

I'm not worried about the kid. He gonna be alright. Already looking like he is coming out of his shell more and more. Just had a bit of nerves early.

He will. Fiz is not equivocating. MRob will be on the floor THIS year.

I am now guessing he might start and Kanter will come off the bench. It makes perfect sense in terms of committing to both youth and fielding the best potential defensive starters from day one.

Or he will come off the bench and play starter minutes just to remove any stress about starting, but this guy should be our center of the future either way.

He will eventually be our starter, he just needs to see live game action and work through his mistakes. There is no substitute for playing at game speed, with thousands of spectators watching. I am going to enjoy watching this young man and the others develop over the next few years.

speaking isn't his strong suit, but i am seeing why we should not assume he is dumb. some people just don't have the gift of gab.

hopefully with time he becomes a more comfortable verbal communicator. but if he doesn't, i don't care so long as he ballin.

patrick ewing out here coaching. still can't talk.

He's got that naive country boy aura about him....its a stark contrast against where he's playing and his seemingly ferocious game. Championship teams seem to usually have one eccentric type...the Bulls and Piston had Rodman, Lakers Artest, Spurs have Kahwii, the Warriors have Draymond...Mitch is "our" talented goofball. :)

I'm more concerned with his lateral movement. If he can switch to wings (something despite all his talents KP cant do) it would make him perfect for the knicks.

I can definitely see that. He is in no way “slow or stupid”, just a little awkward. The kid just needs good mentor ship and he’ll be fine.

A bit more on his background, he was raised by his grandmother for practically all his life. His motivation is being successful enough to move grandma to where he is.
The greatest motivating factor that’s gotten me to where I am today is… “My grandmother. She lives in Pensacola, Florida, and she was the one that raised me. I want to be able to move her away from there and have her come stay with me wherever I end up. That’s what I think about every time I step on the court and it keeps me grinding.”
