having the home team representative Zach return to the dunk contest would make the NBA happy. Unless we end up with Zion.

smh...

It’s ok just let Lauri shoot 3s or something and hopefully he can be an all star as well.

Zach LaVine had more missed shots (219) last season than assists, rebounds, steals, and blocks combined (194).

Oh my goodness! A player returning from a torn ACL was... bad? Wow!

I bet his prior seasons before the ACL WERE THE EXACT SAME.

It's not that he was bad. He was literally the exact same player(but like 10% worse statically).

He didn't show any signs of improvement.

A little steep but I’d match, especially if it’s frontloaded.

This guy has never been any good. He wasn't good on the Bulls, wasn't good on the Wolves, wasn't even good at UCLA. FO types keep throwing money at him because of his great athleticism, but that doesn't do him any good when his brain malfunctions on a regular basis. You'd think the team that went through the Tyrus Thomas experience would have figured this out by now.

And I am saying give him a mulligan on a season where he came off a serious knee injury.

Zach can take over games offensively Kobe style, you guys will win alot more this year with him healthy.

You're preaching to the wrong board.

Patience doesn't exist around here.

Players also can't improve according to here (even if they only play 24 games coming back from an ACL, they can't improve).

Hoping for a Butler/Leonard type improvement is futile.

And those players were GOOD defensive players prior to their offensive improvement and I'm pretty sure they weren't complete negatives on the court prior to their improvement.

Zach makes his team worse when he plays every single season from on court production.

This is exactly why I'm meh. He isn't a player who I'm going to lose sleep over if we let him go, but in the same breath, his contract for his talent level even he makes the the tinniest of improvements will make him a player who won't be impossible to trade in the future, especially if it's true that his contract is front loaded.

I'd love to see the actual year by year splits.

This is why dealing for him coming off an ACL wasn't a good move. We have no clue what we have in him and now we're probably losing him for nothing.

I'd let him walk. I may regret it, but it's too risky. Tank again next year for another high pick and use max cap space to sign 2 FAs. I'd target Davis now too.

Lauri, WCJ, Dunn, another high pick, 2 FAs and were rolling with a proper rebuild.

And some want him? That stat alone defines everything about Zach.

He almost has more missed shots in his career (1580) than assists, rebounds, steals and blocks combined (1663). So last year wasn't too far off for his career.

Exactly.

People saying he was bad because of the ACL miss the point.

He was literally the same player he's been throughout his career and that's not a good thing.

20 mil is a steal considering that cap is going up over the next 3 years...We were going to 18.5 so it's a no brainer...We will match and I'm okay with it.

Bye bye, Zach. i don't like the tone, and I think in a bigger picture and improvement of our core in talent-wise and atmosphere-wise would be better without him. Act bigger man and wait up. Don't be that passive aggressive spoiled boo-boo.

No I'm saying you can't say he's not worth it when a market has been set since the cap went up and inferior players are getting similar amounts

Tim hardaway jr is not a better player than zach lavine and he got 72 mil. Lavine will get 6 mil more

Tim Hardaway Jr is absolutely better than Lavine.

No....he isn't.

The Bulls are matching this. I'm ok with it too.

His last two years are better than anything Lavine has ever done. Yes, he's better.

Lavine is not and has never been one of the best 200 players in the NBA. Hell, going by espn's real plus minus even in his third season, which was objectively his best, he was 388th. Vonleh was 389th, so he's got that going for him.

This post will get lost in the mix, but whenever there is a loaded group of teams with cap space, this is exactly what happens - next off season is going to be a sh** fight and there are going to be crazy contracts thrown around for role players worse than LaVine.

Whether we match or not, I think we're going to look back at this time next year and think that this off season was one of the rare conservative free agent markets in a long time.

Zion? Nassir Little is the guy in next year's draft as a one and done that'd look nice in a Bulls uniform.

At this price I'd let Lavine walk. He doesn't pass or play defense now and I doubt that he starts after getting paid.

Little, Barrett...there’s a few guys I want more than Zion. He’s got a lot of work to do.

Matching this would be “sign Felicio to $8 million per year at 12:01am” caliber.

He's coming from Minnesota which hasn't had a player develop in God knows how long (Wiggins and KAT haven't developed in Minny), I'm prepared to give him a chance in place that has had players develop.

Would I rather have got him cheaper? Of course but this isn't going to kill us in any shape or form.

If he was THJR, you know a guy that improved massively from his rookie year to his 2nd contract, and you know a guy that until last season was pretty much completely healthy yea I'd sign him up.

But he's not. THJR is actually a pretty solid starter. Not a great fit in NYC, but a solid starter nonetheless. Zach Lavine has NEVER been a solid starter. In fact, he's never been close.

This is such an easy decision.

No it would be infinitely worse because Zach will need his 35 minutes a game to chuck and suck. Felicio is content to eat his ribeye and sit on the bench.
