Interesting, kinda what we suspected here.

Sounds like they would have interest in Oubre+Mahinmi type deal

Temple for Oubre and Mahinmi without giving up our first could be a huge win. Would be ideal to see how Oubre is coming along before the deadline before pulling the trigger. I think it's a deal the Kings would do even if Oubre looks like he's barely improved to that point. If he hasn't, we can feel a lot better about letting him walk. Of course, if he looks great, we start exploring ways to free up space to extend him.

A huge win for Sacramento? Why do we consider our own guys to be only slightly better than hot trash?

Why do we undervalue cap space?

Do you know what's going to happen?

- For whatever reason Melo wants to sign with the Wizards once he's bought out
- Ernie gets excited and makes few trades:

*Otto Porter & Jason Smith for Kevin Love & Kyle Korver ("talented allstar stretch big & terrific shooter")
*Kelly Oubre, Tomas Satoransky & Ian Mahinmi for Kosta Koufos & Garrett Temple ("good smart veterans (and cap savings)")

->

Wall/Rivers/Temple
Beal/Korver/Meeks
Melo/Green/Brown
Love/Morris
Howard/Koufos/Bryant

:o :banghead: :D Though next year only Wall, Beal and Brown would be under contract if everyone opt out (Korver is partially guaranteed for $3.4M). Unfortunately as we saw in 2016 no one wants to come to DC.

Please don't say these things. When someone says them, they happen!

Im just saying
Rivers and Ian for melo, actually saves us a million
gives us a 4 to split time with morris and porter, and some major tax relief next summer.

Melo's got a trade kicker, I'm pretty sure that trade would be a push, and with Howard on board this team doesn't need another sideshow.

He can waive trade kicker, no? I would love that deal. Saving the $15M for 19-20 would be sweet. But why would OKC do that - they are trying to get out of the tax. I think there would need to be a 3rd team and some draft picks - and I don't see that happening.

Melo wants to go to a place where he can be a starter. I don't think we can give him that. It's a different discussion on if he is still starter material at this point in his career. If he isn't a starter with the Wizards, then imagine the chaos we would have with Melo, Howard, and whoever else. If Melo were able to accept a backup role, then no problem, do it.

I'm not a fan of bringing him here, but he'd start right away at the 4 over Morris and Green. Kieff would probably backup Howard at center.

What about something less ambitious like Smith and Meeks for Korver?

https://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/7096203

We could use a 3pt specialist off the bench. Meeks was supposed to be that.

Ernie would be happy to throw in a second round pick and Cavs would also save some money next year. Smith is a great cheerleader and Meeks, um, I don't know.

I doubt Ted would allow this. I think they're looking at dumping Smith & Meeks with cash at the deadline. On the other hand, if tax isn't a problem for Ted, then yeah, pull the trigger. Korver > Meeks and then sign some young dude to fight for minutes.

If everyone on the Cavs besides Sexton is truly available, I would totally give them Oubre+2019 1st+Mahinmi for Larry Nance and George Hill.

Wall Hill
Beal Rivers
Sato Brown
Porter Green
Howard Nance
