If they could get cap space and a second round pick or 2 I'd be happy. I think the Rockets could use him if they had the assets.

I’m not sure the rox would take him on with the enormous luxury tax bill they have to already pay

Rockets, Blazers, Raptors I think would all be contenders. In all honesty though if a team made us pay to trade him, I would just keep him. The other side to this is that there are other teams eyeing the same 2019 FA's.

He’s only an ugly duckling because he’s a Knick.
Any other team and he’s be one of the better bang for your buck two guards in the game. Mozgov gets traded twice in a week but Lee the uber efficient, pro’s pro Knick is this immovable object.

IMO The player is fine and salary is fine but 2nd year is the issue. Teams like flexibility from offseason to offseason

If he’s not part of the plan this year and doesn’t like it, send him home. Next offseason when he’s an expiring knicks shouldnt have significant issues moving him. Same with Noah (though you might need to attach a small piece ie protected first even with his expiring because he offers zero on court value).

I wouldn’t stretch either and pay tomorrow for yesterday’s mistakes unless completely necessary.

Asset unless he gets old overnight but even then he's an expiring next season. I swear guys like Lee and O'Quinn would have had more value if they played somewhere else. Knicks players have kinda had toxic rep last few seasons. But the winds they are a changing...

didn't we have this same exact thread already ? for our purposes, he might be an albatross if we can't get an expiring.

Noah is the albatross, he is paid about 75% more than his value. Guys like Noah are receiving 1 year contracts at less than 5 Mil. We may have other players with inflated contracts but I would not consider them albatross contracts.

Wasn't this thread made already a couple months back?

Anyways, neither an albatross nor asset. For what he produces on the floor and the amount he gets paid he's not an albatross, very serviceable solid role player. But because of length of contract, age, and teams being cap strapped he's not an asset either.

A team would rather do their best to strike for gold in UDFA, G-League call-ups, and cheap vet min contracts and hope they could recreate what Lee gives you at a fraction of the cost.

At this point Id be ecstatic if we could get a 2nd rounder for him with no money coming back to us. Id consider that a major W

OR

A straight salary dump where we get nothing back but free ourselves of his deal would also be a victory. It cost the nuggets a 2nd rounder to dump Chandler, maybe attaching two 2nd rounders to Lee could faciliate a salary dump type deal :dontknow:

He'd be a decent fit for the Lakers right now.

At 12 mill and 2 years he is about right where his value should be. A good 3 and D guy to complement other star players. It will all depend on if he fits a teams need and their cap economics. Memphis might be a good fit too.

I don't have the greatest read on how the league views Lee. I know he's been a guy valued by teams he has played on but not sure he is really quite the same guy anymore. My gut is that he is slightly overpaid, but not egregiously so. I think there would be a way to move him, but definitely not to get a meaningful asset back.

If Lee is considered an albatross at $12M for 2 more seasons & he actually brings consistency with his play and health for the most part, then I have no clue what you can call Hardaway Jr & Noah's contracts.

Comparatively speaking, Timmy provides adequate production compared to those at his position making similar money. Yes, he's overpaid but its not like he a scrub. He's alright. Not bad, not very good. Decent. Just not worth 18 mill

I wonder if the opinion on Timmy would change if he were only making 12-14 mill a year as opposed to 18-20. He's not that bad

Noah, otoh is a mega-albatross. I hope the Knicks take their medicine and just ride out that contract to the bitter end. Dont stretch him and have that dead money counting against the cap into the early 2020s
