How can a team of "elite" medical professionals not be able to tell if a thumb is broken or not.

Eh, not really a conspiracy if an injury really did occur, just that the severity of it may have been exaggerated as the risk of playing on it wasn't worth the reward of him beating up on non-NBA players.

sure, no doubt. but i don't think we lied about a broken thumb to keep him out. teams sit 2nd year guys all the time in SL for no reason at all.

Hornets subreddit seems pretty wary of the blogger claiming this so I'll believe it when the PR twitter says it

I dont enjoy the emotional rollercoaster, but i would rather have management that exaggerates an injury to keep a guy out than management who acts like they are being professional about an injury and then lets a guy return in 3-4 months from an injury that takes 6 months to heal and then have him immediately re-injured. Yes, im talking about MKGs shoulder and im still mad about it.

Time to win the tourney. No team can touch us when Monk is out there. It's not fair.

Good point, didn't realize it was only Spencer reporting this. Assumed it was others as well.

From reddit

How or why the injury was misdiagnosed? I'm no medical professional or anything, but a fracture seems like a fairly straight-forward type of "yes or no" diagnosis.

I'm a medical professional. It's actually harder than you'd think if all you are looking at is radiographs. That's a two-dimensional picture of a 3D structure. Depending on positioning and radiographic technique, **** can be hard to read. And reports all say "thumb is broken". Okay, which bone? There are three, and the distal phalanx is a stubby lil' bastard, it is hard to evaluate.

Is this universally good news?

Nope, not at all. Broken bones heal great, typically. Tendons pretty well, and ligaments are sucky as they have essentially no blood supply. Depending on the site of injury, a broken bone can be very preferable to a damaged ligament.

I can certainly attest to some of this. I've been dealing w/ chronic tendonosis in my right thumb for 13 months. I've tried everything you can imagine w/ limited results. It has been a roller coaster recovery, never getting better than 75% healed. But Monk is young and my body is ****, so, I can only assume he heals faster.

Paul George's leg nearly split in half and Haywards ankle nearly ripped at his foot.

I should have tossed in Nerlens Noel's knee injury.

I always did. Before your return to the board i posted multiple times lamenting your absence.

Edit: I bumped the post because the news made it that much more funny.

And you never really took it personally that I pray nightly for a Mack truck to crash through MKG's living room crushing all his bones.

It helped balance out my constant hating on Clifford.

Yes, your soul won't rest until Clifford is dead and you've had a peek into his coffin with your own eyes, plus dental records.
