A lot of people don’t like Portis. I like him more than most but I can’t really see a path to getting him. We either take on bad salary or give up a pick to get him.

Seconded. There's no way a rebuilding team like Chicago gives away an asset with proven potential like Portis without some serious sweeteners, which we shouldn't be giving out anyways for Bobby freaking Portis.

Dion Waiters coming back to OKC in a package for Melo...

Thoughts?

He would be a nice add to the bench. He plays hard on defense and he’s never seen a shot he won’t take. But he would also take shots and oppertunities from Abrines, Ferguson, and Diallo.

I’m wondering if the Rockets get desperate and offer up Anderson, Tucker, and a second for Melo. It would be stupid but maybe they would find it appealing to get out of one year of Anderson’s deal. The Thunder could then waive and stretch him or try to move him along with a future first to ATL and hang on to Tucker.

I'd do it but I'd think Houston at least wants to keep one plus defender on the wing haha.

A Harden/Gerald Green/Melo trio isn't putting fear into anyone on that end, and they're rumored to be after Swaggy P.

I am counting on the hubris of Daryl Morey and Mike D’Antoni.

If Melo wants to start in Miami (if he prefers Houston, none of this is possible), I wonder if something like this would work for all parties. I think it works money wise.

To OKC: Temple
To MIA: Melo & Cauley-Stein
To SAC: Whiteside & some level of filler (one of Miami's glut of wings)

I think WCS needs to be removed from this deal. The Kings are taking on 2 years $50 million of Whiteside. They pay the high price tag already.

Kings would only do it if they actively want Whiteside. Just not going to presume to know/understand what they want. I do think WCS is on the outs; he's always involved in their trade rumors. Plus Bagley and Giles should need minutes. I'd prefer having WCS on my roster to Whiteside, but some teams probably like Whiteside for whatever reason. Kings have the space to do something. You could tweak it however, just like the basic structure if Melo wants MIA and Kings view Whiteside as a plus. It's one of the few ways I could think of for OKC to shed Melo via trade and not give up draft picks to do so.

To OKC: J.R. Smith & Kyle Korver
To CLE: Carmelo Anthony (gets bought out) & H. Diallo

Assuming he’s not attached to any Melo deal, what could we get for Ferguson?

there's no way we do a trade with the rockets.

for this all to be so public in the first place my thought is that the thunder are set on just buying him out and stretching, but searching for trade options that may be more cap palatable.

A future 1st round pick. Unless you are going to package him with Patterson to bring in a $8Mish veteran, but then you are still limited to MLE types.

Last offseason, I advocated that we trade for Dinwiddie because he seemed to be making a substantial turn in his career and showed a lot of flashes of brilliance. Who are your Dinwiddie candidates this year?

Who does P
Portis punch at practice first? Adams perhaps?

J.R. Smith does not fit in OKC.

Thunder will try to keep Ferguson and Diallo.

It’s probably time to seriously considering moving Ferguson. I didn’t expect him to get that much better between the end of the season and SL, but I thought he was better than what he’s been. Im thinking his improved three point shoot8ng the second half of the season will prove to be an outlier.

Oh, summer league overreactions.

bulls rescinded the QO for nwaba today, and waived kilpatrick yesterday. letting vonleh go puts them back in range for a melo for felicio swap i believe.
