2015 was definitely Curry, 2014 was definitely Durant. 2011 was definitely Dirk. 2006 was Wade, 2007 was probably Duncan. 2005 I am not sure how people are saying Garnett, the guy didn't even make the playoffs. 2002 is up for grabs between Shaq and Duncan. 2010 is one of 3 players. 2017 and 2018 debateable but for the season it was clear Lebron wasn't the best and he didnt end up with the title either, so others have strong cases in those circumstances.
To me you either need the best stats on the season and/or won the title that season as the clear best player on the floor.

I really don't understand the argument for Durant in 2018 other than him having that 43 pt game and winning fmvp. I think by metrics it was easily his worst regular season since 2012 and he missed 14 games on top of that. He wasn't really that great in the playoffs either. Just no real basis for having him as the best player in 2018 imo. LeBron and a few other guys all have much stronger arguments.

Ofcourse people hate Durant right now and would never allow him to be viewed as the best player, but he was the most impactful player no matter how you slice it.

This is just completely false. You realize we have actual metrics to measure impact? They firmly paint the picture that KD's stats are far better than his actual impact. That isn't to say we should judge a player purely on impact metrics, but it's unquestionably he wasn't near the top in impact last year.

We don’t have stats which measure impact. We have stats which measure things related to impact... obviously can’t measure impact

Why can't you measure impact?
Impact isn’t a stat. Can you measure skill? Impact stats include: coaching, strategy, opponent, teammates, energy level, etc.
No stats we have can distinguish impact, just things like RAPM which can calculate player/team performance

Skill isn't impact. Why are impact stats not measuring impact? I'm seriously asking for you to explain this.

He's just making the distinction that skill and impact aren't stats that are measured. There are stats that correlate but would fail to be considered a measurement of skill and impact, i.e fg% or rapm.

Using that logic points scored is not a metric for scoring. I think we'd all agree we have ways to measure who is better at scoring in terms of volume, and no we don't just use 1 metrics but that's a given with everything.

I'd put Durant in '14 and Curry in '15 but other than that looks decent.
