hicks just doesnt hit that many singles. he has a 12-14% bb rate as his norm and he was getting unlucky on his hard hit balls earlier in the year. that has normalized a bit. outside of a little slump in may hes been playing like a .380 woba guy for the year.

I have a feeling Machado goes to the Brewers they have a lot of chips an organization like that will be going balls to the wall for a world series and not afraid of losing Machado to FA, kind of like getting CC at the 08 deadline. The Yankees can get Machado in FA without having to give up anything starting pitching is the need. Have a feeling Cashman is trying to nix a deal with the Redsox getting Zach Britton, I'm a little torn on this because a part of me wants to see us get a strength of our team even stronger by getting Britton and you stop a team like the Redsox from getting stronger, and your infield D would improve signifigantly with Machado not too mention his .300 BA, you would be effectively replacing Shreve with Britton to be a lefty specialist and of course he is way more then that.

if brewers trade a lot of prospects for a guy who will never resign with them, more power to them. they would be overpaying for a rental.

I don’t like that logic Phish. Cole was an NL pitcher now he’s a cy young candidate.

I feel bad for DeGrom. He is seriously wasting his talent in Queens. How many times can the guy shut down a lineup in dominant fashion and still not get the win? I know the Mets won but he has so many no decisions, it's insane. He should be on a contending team. Just not Boston or Houston haha.

Then who? You guys can't go forward without making a move for a top tier pitcher IF you have World Series aspirations this season. But I can also understand if you guys decided to stand pat and take your time. See what happens this offseason. :dontknow:

what was Cashman's last good trade for a starting pitcher?

That's his biggest weakness. The history is bad

If you guys get Machado, you'll have to make another move. Either Fifi or Andujar (and Drury?) will have to get moved either in that trade on in another. I don't understand why you'd add another hitter instead of a top line pitcher.

What are you rumored to be giving up for him?

Not too mention, there's not even much SP available for trade. Makes no sense to sell the farm and be desperate for a Happ (who we just destroyed last week) or Hamels who has a big ass option next year.

If I recall Clemens wasn't that dominant with the Yanks. His ERA was in the 4.01 in NY. He wasn't bad record wise, it helped that we had a stacked offense.

when you can add more talent, you do it. Yankees obviously have an inside track on Machado because he wants to play for the team, so to any other team he's a rental. For the Yankees? Not so much. That doesn't demand the Yankees offer the house. Their farm system is deep enough to get both Machado and available SP, while probably still being up a prospect like Sheffield.

But you need to have team balance. Putting up runs isn't a problem though the Yanks appear to have an all or nothing lineup which is the trend. I just don't see you guys getting by Houston without acquiring better pitching.

Who might you guys be giving up for Machado?
