The only chance Toronto had of beating us was keeping Derozan while still getting Kawhi. They have no shot at beating us in the playoffs now.

Not really. Derozan was a bum when it’s mattered most and they got rid of him. They also added green. Raptors are good this morning. We need to resign smart. Wish we had added another shooter.

And besides, this might turn into another Mourning deal for them.

Pretty big gamble by Raptors here.

I don't think Toronto would have been on Kawhi's list of teams he'd go to (had he made one). And he clearly wasn't involved in this.

Fingers crossed it's a one year rental and then he goes to the Clips.

You never know, once he gets to Toronto and sees all those banners in the rafters....

Tatum would be lucky to win DPOY and shoot 50-40-90 averages in the same year.

You're joking, right?
I don't remember Kawhi shooting that for an entire season?

Leonard has been such a big baby in all this. Spurs will do what’s good for their team. You can go to L.A next season.

People in this thread is really underestimating Kawhi. If fully healthy, dude can carry a team to the finals.

Hey, something happened!

Got to like it for Toronto, even if it doesn't work out. They are probably the best fit in terms of having nothing to lose. Weren't reaching the top of the mountain as currently constructed, and were staring down a rebuild in a couple years anyway. No reason not to try.

Smart thread about to get crowded...

I'm really confident we are better than the Raptors by a significant margin.

He went 51/44/88, close enough. Celtic fans who are getting insecure need to stop, Raps got a GREAT player, but the Celtics are still better.

Yep, in 2015-16 Leonard averaged 21.2 PPG, 50.6% FG, 44.3% 3 PT, and 87.4% FT. Pretty incredible numbers.

It's not insecurity, Khawai was a Popovich system player. He's very over rated

I question if they are even top 3 with Kawhi for a season.

I really cannot see kawhi wanting to stay after the year.

I personally put philly and indy above toronto still. And that is with a healthy and motivated kawhi.

If leonard doesnt care about toronto then they have just taken step 1 of a major rebuild and masai going to philly to pick up after bc again.

Nah. Raptors are the 2nd best team easily.

Boston
Toronto

Philly
I have to disagree.

Ibaka is garbage.
Jv is a dinosaur

Lowry is getting older, slower and more injury prone.

I wouldnt annoint raptors as second best at all.

They had 59 wins last year and they upgraded from Demar to Kawhi. They also got Danny Green, who is better than CJ Miles. Toronto is going to be a very good defensive team that will match up well against us.

Along with people overestimating him.

Amount of Finals Kawhi has led a team to without Duncan, Ginobli, and Parker playing alongside him: 0

Welp that's the end of the off season outside of Smart resigning.

Time to twiddle our thumbs until September

Considering the circumstances, a reasonable deal. That's what you expect when two smart teams deal with each other.

Toronto took a worthwhile gamble on Leonard. They saw how limited that roster was in the playoffs, KL gives them playoff upside. Maybe he misses most of the year and they lose a late first and Poltl for nothing. But, you have to do it IMO. It's not like you wanna pay DeRozan's next big contract.

I'm not a DeRozan fan. SG version of Melo. All star every year, big numbers but questionable impact on winning. Still, a very good regular season player. His ability to get to the FT line is an elite skill.

As far as I'm concerned, Poltl is the key to this trade for the Spurs long term. #9 pick two years ago, quietly played really well in limited minutes behind Ibaka and Jonas. No one is even mentioning him but I think he can become really good.

Trading a star player sucks. You rarely get a fair return. You know what else sucks. Watching the league where players who have 2+ years left on their contract are demanding a trade to a specific location.
