I doubt he signs a cheaper guaranteed money deal like Trout. That guy lost a lot of money doing so.
Guys like this do not take long to reach their prime. Physically, athletes are at their prime pretty early. Look at NFL running backs, big NBA prospects. Athleticism peaks early. It's the approach that takes time to develop, especially in baseball. Elite prospects like Trout, Harper, Machado, Correa - they hit their prime very early, well before they even hit arbitration. They start out almost immediately at their peak value. I think it's unlikely that Vladdy's age 27 season is significantly better than his age 20 season. And there's no way to leave him down another year anyway, so it's not something to worry about.
