Went John Wall, feel that he's really underrated. He's a 20 PPG and 10 assist guy when healthy. I expect him to return to his 16/17 form this year.

I hear this constant refrain among Wall supporters that last year was some sort of huge outlier where the (minor) injury was hurting him so much and otherwise he’d be super elite. It looks to me like he’s mostly been the same player the last 5 years which was a borderline Top 5 PG at his absolute best and maybe borderline Top 10 at worst. I think he’s clearly behind Lowry and Simmons and pretty comparable to Kemba and Jrue.

One of the very stats you just posted indicates last year was an outlier. His RPM is nearly half of what it was in most years, and nowhere near his peak.

Just by eye test I could tell he wasn't right last season compared to previous ones. If Wall had a chance of winning i'd actually vote for him this poll.

Yup, has consistently had a huge impact and carried Raptors to:

-56 wins, conference finals
-51 wins, second round loss to Cavs
-59 wins, second round loss to Cavs

All without another Top 40 player in the roster. That’s highly impressive. Have to go with the proven playoff performer for now. Obviously Simmons should be Top 20 too, but you’ll have to talk to the Lillard and Kyrie voters about that.

So you wouldnt call Derozan a top 40 player? I still think lowry is better than Derozan, but you can't discredit his role on those teams as well.

As this poll shows for the top 25, I think it's not guaranteed for DeRozan to get into the top 40. Would you take him over any of the 20 players listed so far?

That said I think this "Top [x]" is a bit misleading, because there isn't always a huge gap between two players. To bring back a blast from the past, while I think Kyrie is better than Dame, I don't think the game between Dame and Kyrie is huge.

What was his ranking in PER relative to PG's?

The 2nd team slot was a bit wonky - Curry was named all-NBA third team, along with Dipo. It's undeserved on that basis alone, unless you think DD deserved a spot over Harden, Lillard and Westbrook.

DD was lucky to get named 2nd team. But leaving that aside, try and list the 40 best players in the NBA. I think you'll find that even if you include DD in them, it'll be hard to fit him in there.

But then maybe you think DD is better than Dipo, for example, in which case we won't really see eye to eye.

Curry missed 31 games. Third Team was as high as he could go, he probably wouldn't even get that had Kyrie not gotten injured.
