I did not see how Butler himself cured all these issues.
The problem with Butler and management is that Thibs refused to trade Butler after the end of the season, heck, Thibs still refuses this idea. As result we are in this mess now which bothers whole franchise, all players and destroyed any chemistry. The problem IS NOT Butler trade request itself. The issue is how our GM/POBO/Coach handled it. And Thibs is absolutely WORST GM in this regard:
1) He lost his locker room
2) He lost trust from owner
3) He lost trust of his best player (KAT) Who did not want to sign extension
4) He lost trust of his former best player (Butler) Who publicly made concern in media about whole process
5) He lost time refusing to accept reality
The biggest problem is the same as it was in Chicago, the people/person above him doesn't agree with the way he does business and you end up pulling in multiple directions. This is why I had hope when he also got POBO although Taylor's fingerprints are all over issues with this team that people just say it's Thibs.
1. Maybe, kinda hard to keep a lockerroom when you don't really have power. He wanted to move Wiggins, the owner didn't, now you have a max player just going through the motions on the court. 1 rebound in 28 minutes for a max level wing, incredible, for some reason, I don't think that's Thibs.
2. Absolutely, Taylor should have either stayed completely out of it like he did to hire Thibs(went through a consultant company to hire Thibs) or do your own hiring of someone you agree with. Either way Taylor screwed up.
3. Minnesota reporters have said that Towns asked for Thibs to be removed, I believe this. I also believe that although Towns is an incredible talent and trains well, he's soft and he doesn't seem to like to be pushed, although stronger, limited offensive centers have some of their best games of their careers against him.
4. Still want to know why, if it's about money it's Taylor indicating he's not paying Butler, if it's because he knows Towns wants Thibs out and Butler doesn't want to be here if Thibs is gone(he'd have a long term contract with Minnesota) it would be about money again trying to get his bird rights to a team he'll resign with.
5. The fans on this board are interesting, instead of trying to figure out the logic of something you don't like you just go with "crazy" , "stupid", "refuse to accept reality". Whether you think it's right or wrong, there has been a plan and Glen Taylor has kept putting up roadblocks and now people are like see... it didn't work, it never had a chance to work. A defensive coach who wasn't allowed to trade a horrible defender like Wiggins then watch the owner sign him to the max. That to me is beyond stupid but I understand that Taylor was betting Wiggins would come around, he bet wrong.
But keep going with the simple explanations instead of figuring out why and figuring out the real problem with the franchise... Glen Taylor, because once Butler and Thibs are gone, you still have him making the calls.
The simple Taylor vetoing Wiggins being available for trade stopped Minnesota from having a starting lineup this year of Teague, LaVine, Butler, Markkanen and Towns. Just 1 veto had that big of change on the franchise.
