Marcus Morris Questions Al-Farouq Aminu’s and Nikola Mirotic's ESPN Top 100 Rank

Post#1 » by Unbiased hater » Mon Oct 15, 2018 1:58 pm

Boston Celtics forward Marcus Morris would like more respect, from his NBA 2K rating to being ranked somewhere on ESPN’s Top 100 players list.

“How am I not in the top-100? You’ve got guys like Nikola Mirotic, who was ranked 50th,” Morris said, stumbling over the New Orleans forward’s name. “Al-Farouq Aminu (ESPN’s 100th-ranked player) and them guys, how am I not over them? You know what I’m saying? I would just like respect.”

Then stop being a fake tough guy and play some defense

He demands respect while being disrespectful to other players. Who cares about stuff like this anyway I really don't get it. He is playing for a contender just stfu and play hard.

Mirotic to me is easily the superior player. No idea why he is dropping his name.

Don't forget, he's the self-proclaimed second best defender of Lebron in the league.

Pretty clear that Mirotic is better than Morris at.... everything. I do think Marcus Morris is circumstantially a better defender in one-on-one matches. But Morris has been a bad defender his whole career until last year in Boston. Mirotic balled out last year. He played at an all-star level in Chicago and then was a huge part of New Orlean's post-Cousins surge.

Aminu. Sure I can see why Morris things that. He's a better iso scorer than Aminu by far. But Aminu is a much more valuable defender than Morris or Mirotic. He protects the rim a little bit, switches handily across 4 positions and rebounds the ball pretty decently.

Morris to me was always broke man's Melo. He's got some iso shimmy in his game, a pull up, and a really solid turn around, but he's blah in every other area of the game. He think verrrrry highly of himself because he's a good 1 on 1 player.

For me, Mirotic is on a higher level than these guys. Aminu and Morris, i'd take based on need, but I'd probably want Aminu in most instances unless I was desperate for some iso offense off the bench. He did defend Lebron pretty well for 2 games last year though.

Mirotic is way better than him, there's no comparison.

Aminu is better than him as well, but it's closer. Morris is the better scorer but Aminu is a very good defender and a capable outside shooter, probably more valuable to a team than Morris is.

Everybody ranked 51-100 should have similar complaints about Mirotic.

I can't stand this guy. Used to like his gritty nature, but he's become a diva who believes he's entitled to everything and is head and shoulders above a ton of the rest.

Inefficient, low IQ, meh defensive player with a crappy attitude.

Maybe he should be in the top 100. But since it's a maybe and debatable, I think Marcus should focus on this game and not some random rankings.

Couldn't agree more, guy has mentality of a teenager. And he has the nerve to call out Mirotic who is definitely better player than him.Aminu might not be more talented, but he knows his role, and i'd rather have him than Morris aswell.

Mirotic is light years better than Morris.

I'd also take Aminu but that could be debated I guess.

The 100 top players are basically guys capable of being top 3 guys on a roster. Morris isn't.

He's not better than Mirotic, but he's still got a point. If Mirotic is 50th and Aminu 100th then there should be space in between for Morris to get some love. He's only marginally worse than Nikola and I'd say a good bit better than Aminu.

That being said, these rankings are incredibly subjective once you get out of the rarefied air so he should probably just shut up and play better. I think if he didn't have a bit of a knucklehead reputation he'd get a little bit more love.

He's going into a contract year though, so I get his frustration. Every little bit of hype helps when he sits down with teams' next summer and starts talking numbers. He's going to get squeezed for minutes this year as well with Hayward back, so I think he's just frustrated about how things are shaping up for him. I can see him being a bit of a problem this year for Brad and wouldn't be surprised to see him moved because of it.

Just looking at 50-100, who are you taking Morris over? Here's a list of guys that one could consider leaving off and taking Morris instead:

- Jabari Parker, mostly due to unknown with injuries, etc...
- Pau Gasol, he's not very good anymore, but come on, he's 38 lol. It's embarrassing for Morris that 2K considers Gasol better haha.

At this point, those are the only two that pop out to me, and even they have caveats.

I wish he would just shut up. Guy is the biggest black hole in the league and it’s not even close.
