Butler has requested a trade, the saga continues

Jimmy has a player option. He might exercise it if a trade doesn't happen even by the deadline just so y'all get a mulligan to move him in the off-season. With him retaining his bird rights of course. $50M guaranteed is a hell of a motivator and it's no secret this is about money.

I doubt Jimmy want to do that. It puts him a year older, and who want to pay a 36 year old that kind of money? He needs to secure a long term deal this summer, that's his goal.

No doubt Jimmy wants a max deal ASAP, because guaranteed money is a big deal. Nobody wants to be the next Boogie. Unfortunately, he will have to take on some risk at least for this season. No changing that. Remember, he wanted to redo his contract into a 5-year max this summer just to take away that risk. Glen wasn't in a good position to oblige then, but he can be with a couple moves for this off-season.

I think the ship has sailed trying to talk him into staying.

Could be lip service, but I don't think Towns wants him here after throwing him under the bus. He seems to have a fragile ego.

some of you guys act like we gave up Zach, Dunn and a dart throw pick for nothing if Jimmy leaves. Um we got to the playoffs for the first time in like a decade! evidently that is not enough but it is for me. you are kidding yourself if you think Zach is some future all star and Dunn becomes at the very least a solid starter. I like Zach but he is only a slight improvement on Wiggz which is saying a lot and its not good. Dunn is an absolute bust so who really cares. the pick is just a dart throw....heck I bet Tolliver can be that on this squad and he was no lottery pick.
Wait for the best deal.....teams will call eventually. If JB gets hurt, he is out 50 million. If he stays on this team all year he is out 50 million. If the team puts together some crazy run like Utah did last year, I could see things change for the better.

Is one 5 game playoff run worth giving up assets? Dunn is not a bust, and LaVine is having a good year.
Now at the time it was a good move, what we are saying is, we need to recoup SOMETHING back for Jimmy.
That's all I am saying. BTW Dunn is not a bust IMO, and the draft pick could have been someone we could actually use.
And if getting to the PO's once every 14 years is good for you, then.......I'll stop there.

It is legal for the Rockets to trade four 1st round picks if they are 2019, 2021, 2023, and 2025. The only problem is they can't be protected since none of the picks could be pushed back a year, protections would basically cause the Wolves to lose the pick if the criteria are met.

Yea, if they are unprotected, then you have to take that deal. Even with how good of a GM Morey is he would be facing not being able to trade first round picks and having no cap space.
