The reality is Conor is the draw and while they may feel a bump in their buyrates because of Conor, they are not going to sell what he does. Khabib vs Tony will be lucky to beat Cormier vs Stipe in rates.

Khabib is a much bigger draw than Nate.

Khabib/Tony would easily beat Cormier/Stipe. Khabib is a bigger draw than DC now. Beating Connor and he was the news everywhere.

I think Khabib is trolling anyways. He is backed by a Russian billionaire and money isn't really an issue. He genuinely cares about being in the GOAT convo and has never once mentioned money in the past.

Askren vs. Lawler apparently. It's a question of what Lawler has left in the tank vs. if Askren has gotten any better since he left Bellator, IMO.

Askren will destroy Lawler. He's not going to stand and bang, he's going to take him down and win the first round.

For the people that know Askren, is he a large WW? like a guy that could fight at 185? Or a small WW, someone that could potentially drop to 155?

I saw a picture of him next to Woodly and he looked like he dwarfed him, so I'm assuming he's closer to the heavier side?

I realize Lawler was taken down by guys like Shields years and years ago, but other than that, who has really taken done RL in recent years? IIRC Hendricks took him down at the very end of their first fight to seal the deal on that victory. Otherwise I can't really think of any.

155 is not an option. No way, no how. 165 is more likely than 185.

I just don't have any faith in post USADA Lawler. I've always thought that he and Hendrix were juicers. I think Askren is going take him down and crush him, but I could be completely wrong on that.
It would be something for Lawler to just crumple Askren in his debut though.

Askren-Lawler is a reasonable match-up. It's not an obvious case where Askren will just swim on him like Till would have been, nor is it obvious he'll be sprawled and brawled like Usman would have done. I can see either scenario because Lawler has solid tdd but not special. He's not a high level wrestler nor super mobile to get outside foot position for escapes. That's what Hieron did. So they gave him a winnable match-up from the outset to not kill his hype right away.

I think ultimately Askren's train will get derailed the UFC's ww division has too many athletic wrestlers who are better strikers than him to pick him apart from distance and wiggle out of td attempts. Lima would probably do better on a transfer even though he lost to Askren. That was years ago, has become well-rounded unlike Askren, and he may be even better in his strongest area of striking because Askren has to close distance with sub-par athleticism and rely on a lot of scrambles where he can end up in bad positions initially that can involve him being gnp'ed temporarily or get caught in a sub.

Another "dominant wrestler but what about that big punch!" fight. But this is not suspenseful after Cormier vs. Lewis, Khabib vs. Mac, Stipe vs. Ngannou, etc...even Till vs Woodley. Strikers are getting their asses kicked.

Lawler is a top 5 boxer in the UFC*. But this is a product of punching in the pocket, moving over his hips but with his feet planted, and putting together combinations. That's not going to help against a guy closing distance. Maybe he will have some timing, though, given all those years at Miletich. In that sense, he is different from Mac, Lewis, Ngannou or Till. He has spent 20 years timing wrestling shots.

Askren said himself that 165 is the lowest he can get.

Anyone who cares about Dillon Danis should stop and start caring about Gary Tonon.

Holy crap, how much Blow does Joe Rogan do on his podcasts? The guy is nose twitching and sniffling the entire time on some of them.
The one where he reviews Dillon Dannis’ fight is crazy. He’s either just done a huge line or is allergic to cats and Eddie Bravo brought in whiskers from home

ReddZone does not want anyone implying that Phil Baroni might be on steroids.
