Also, I think that the Nets were fairly gassed due to the atmosphere (remember, playing in Denver is not easy on the lungs) and still managed to pull off the win. The FTs i think were a fatigue issue.

It wasn't a criticism (except Rondaes perhaps). The point is that it wasn't like Denver played like trash while we played perfect and thus why a "playoff" team lost to a "lottery" team.

The Nuggets werent perfect, but neither were we.

We fought through A LOT to get that well deserved win.

And I think the atmosphere certainly played a role, especially Allen who might have returned on the 4th a few minutes too soon due to Davis fouling out.

Like I said, these guys buckled up when they had to in order to get us the win

This team is really fun to watch and a constant reminder of how amazing Marks has done assembling talents from limited resources. Allen and Levert are true building blocks and Russell/Dinwiddie aren't too far off themselves.

Davis/Dudley/Carroll are all really good veteran role players.

I've long been a RHJ skeptic and even though he was undoubtedly excellent last year, I remain so. Defensively he hasn't been able to maintain his disruptiveness and I don't think I'm ever not going to be worried about him getting injured. It will be interesting to see what happens, but the missing piece on this team is clearly a dynamic player at the 4 spot. I think history is going to repeat itself in the form of Rondae + Crabbe for Porter at some point.

I'm not saying Porter is necessarily that dynamic 4, but he could be. And something along the lines of the trade above wouldn't stop them from going out in FA and signing someone like Tobias Harris. I'd sign for a starting 5 next year of Russell - Levert - Porter - T. Harris - Allen with Dinwiddie/J. Harris/Musa/Kurocs and whoever they get with next year's 1st round picks right now). That team wouldn't be on the level of Philly/Boston but it wouldn't be far off and they'd have a lot of assets to continue building up.

A dynamic 4 is definitely the biggest need for this team. But, as I've said many times, the dynamic 4 that this team's style wants...a guy who can switch perimeter D, rebound, and also stretch the floor isn't an easy player to find. Its probably waaaay too early, but Marks may have lucked out in Kurucs falling to us. He needs to get stronger, but he certainly has the skill set needed that fits what we're looking for in our 4 quite perfectly once he gets stronger and develops further.

And hey, if anything, Dudley playing well and planting Rondae on the bench (or at the very least limiting his minutes) may make it easier for us to retain him. He's already more valuable to us than to other teams, even with his play last season.

LeVert/Russell/Dinwiddie had 16 assists between them and only two turnovers, all Russell, but we can look past that because he was super efficient and he's continuing to knock down the 3 ball.

And neither of those turnovers were careless (one was a push off offensive foul on an aggressive drive)

Why would I complain about a pass that worked? I complain when he turns the ball over he gets props for fixing the problem with turnovers and getting better individually and as a team player. I want the team to win and for him to be the best player he can be if you guys think I'm too critical oh well everyone's not the same. Just like everyone doesn't learn the same way. Some people have to be called out..broken down to be built up.

People surely had a problem with his no-look pass vs the Pelicans when the only difference was the result. And it wasn't just you. It was almost universal in this forum who killed Russell for that attempted pass.

They were two young players who haven't played together much due to lineups and injuries, much less in the clutch. They made the wrong read that time in not knowing what the other was going to do; last night they both made the correct read and it worked like a charm.

Is it bad that I have a gut feeling that says we end up randomly landing Kevin Love in a surprise trade?

I was once all for going after Love (especially if it meant us getting our pick back) but I think the timing is off and it's not the right move for us anymore.

What surprise deal could we involve in? What would entice Cleveland to deal Love to us, since we are likely not going to offer anyone significant for him.

I know I once proposed giving them Russell as part of a package that would have gotten us our pick back this past draft, but I'm not sure I will make a Russell for Love deal now and they certainly aren't trading Love AND a pick when they need to accumulate young talent.

I don't think he's a target for us.

And I know that for flashy passing (which can create scoring opportunities where there aren't any) the difference between an assist and a turnover is often slim whilst the fan reaction can be polarized. The point I'm struggling to make is that he had a great game, took care of the ball and I wanted to give love.

it doesnt matter if crabbe is shooting % from 3 % from three. in a tie game in the last second teams have to gaurd him a the three point line because he is an establish career shooter. this gave levert all the space he would need

This. I only caught the 4th but Russell's statline is pristine. He poured in the production against the league's top team. There is zero shame in how that ended.

Biggest knock on russell has been his turnovers

Last 7 games averaging just 1.2 turnovers per game and nets as a team least turnovers in the NBA during that stretch

you can't get a win like this, this soon, with the same people, without all those heart breaking defeats. meanwhile you have some losing teams not sniffing wins built for the lottery waiting for talent to fall into their laps. we've got competitors and I couldn't be more grateful to be along for the ride.

+1 on this. tanking has already proven not to be any more successful then just being a bad team that tries to win. I want us to win every game possible even if it means a 9 seed with the last pick in the lotto.

I'm not saying play a ton of veterans, play your young guys and develop and if that means wins it means wins. but you dont tank and you dont worry about lottery position. teams that tank typically dont get better. the draft is mostly luck and creating a losing atmosphere where guys want to leave doesnt help.

My 3 favorite things from the game:

3) down 4 with 56 seconds to play. nuggets ball. they didnt score another point.
2) Levert missing 2 critical free throws, them redeeming himself with the game winner
1) Allen missed 2 critical FTs late, redeemed himself getting an offensive rebound on leverts FT and dunking it

Leverts game winner was obviously huge, but to meet Allens Rebound/Dunk was the play of the game for us. Nuggets get that rebound and we lose. levert misses we still get OT. And offensive rebounds on free throws are typically tough, especially jokic down low.
