John Wall is done. I do not want to touch that contract at all.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Could we realistically get Kevin Love without giving up that much? From the other mentions I've seen of him, it sounds like he has an even worse contract that some of our guys, but I think he could still provide us with a lot more than guys like Batum, Williams, etc. Could we get him by just trading our slightly less bad contracts for him? Or would we need to give up young talent + first round picks for him as well?

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I would trade for either of them. I think they are both good fits with Kemba. The problem is we dont exactly have much to offer.
EDIT: just saw Walls contract. Nope.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Wall maybe the easier get but Beal has to be your target....he fits the needs of this team too well, i may be willing to part with Monk for a 25 year old Beal

Re: Fake Trade Thread
If Denver finishes top 4 record in league, we are going to get Washington's 2nd rounder. So, yeah we should be pulling for Denver this year if Washington is about to tank.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I'm sold on Beal as Kemba's #2 guy. It's a lot, but if we can get him without giving up both Miles and Monk, I think we should do it. It should be known that I would HATE giving up on Monk, but Beal is the player that we dream he can become.
I just posted this on T&T board, but Monk, Frank, Marvin, Biz, 2019 1st, 2021 1st lotto prot for Beal, Morris, Smith is a really competitive offer that is probably fair both ways. Overpay? Probably, but I'd be fine with it, especially since we'd be dumping both Marvin and Biz

I'd try to offer Lamb and keep Monk unless our coaching staff and front office privately aren't very high on Monk. Lamb is a better win now piece than Monk, but Beal will replace Lamb in the starting lineup and we'd avoid having to pay Lamb after this year. Washington might prefer Lamb with the way Monk has been slumping.
Lamb + Marv + Frank + picks matches salary perfect for Beal straight up. We could also take back Jason Smith without adding anything else and he'd be a low key nice pickup to give us some PF depth. It would put us over the luxury tax, but if MJ is seriously hell bent on keeping Kemba, he is going to have to be open to possibly paying the tax.
Kemba/Lin or Hill/Graham
Beal/Monk
Miles/Bacon
Batum/MKG/Smith
Cody/WHG/Biz
Edit: Id try to combine that with a deal like Biz + 2nds for George Hill or Lin. Parker has been effective on offense and pretty clutch, but we need someone with size/defense who can shoot in his spot.

Yes, I would. The length of Wall's contract is a bit worrisome since I think his game isn't going to age all that well but Kemba/Wall together would be NASTY. Wall has the size to guard 2s, Kemba has the skills to play off the ball, so starting them together won't be an issue, in fact it would bring out the best in both of them.
I highly doubt Wall goes for negative value though. A team like Orlando or Phoenix that wants to compete and has no PG will want him and offer Washington a pick and expiring filler
If he goes that cheap, I jump on it for sure.

Wall is going to be making over 40m though. That is insane. The last year is almost 50m. That is basically half the cap for 1 player. The contract he has makes him at best a neutral value.

I would do this too....Monk has a lot of potential, but the time to win with Kemba is now. If the front office is more worried about the future with Monk then they need to trade Kemba and do a total rebuild.

I wish it was the Clippers blowing it up instead of Washington. Id rather trade for Harris than any of the Washington guys and Galinari would also be a solid pickup.
Otto Porter would be perfect in Batums role and they are on essentially the same contract.

It would be funny if we dumped Batum and filler for Hayward and Hayward got his groove back. Cho would be so pissed.

As I said a few weeks ago, Monk + this year's first + filler for Beal. If Bridges can develop into a stud we'd have three really good pieces.

yeah i know. But the cap is projected to be upwards of $130M by the end of the contract. Wall's $46M will look more like a current $36M. If we're just trading other bad contracts like Nic and Marvin Williams, that's such a huge upgrade for the next 3 years that I don't really care what happens after that. We have to center our window around Kemba's prime, which is right now and the next couple years.
I'm sure multiple teams will take that gamble and offer up more than our worst two contracts.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
Beal would be an amazing get to put beside Walker, and I hope we do whatever it takes outside of Kemba/Monk/Bridges to get him. I would prefer Lamb + 2019 1st + whatever (no Kemba/Bridges) for Beal.
I initially wouldn't want to include Monk because I am still very high on him as being a potential star in this league, and he's only 20 years old. However, in order for WAS to bite, I would think that Monk makes more sense for them over Lamb for shipping out a stud 25-year old SG to a division rival.
Plus, if we get Beal, Monk's PT is diminished and his trajectory is as a 6th man here, not a starter. So if the pushing point in acquiring Beal is Monk.... we might have a tough decision to make.
Do we bring in a starting caliber stud SG at 25 years old in his prime at the cost of a young potentially huge upside athletic SG and watch him bloom at our division rival for the next decade?
For me, the answer is - yes. We know what Beal is and we are hopeful of what Monk would be. Kemba gets his wing-mate now, and with the potential Bridges has shown...we have a good looking future. It's not like Beal is a 28 or 29 year old guy on a crappy contract.

Re: Fake Trade Thread
I know we all tend to be prisoners of the moment as NBA fans but I think we have a chance to strike with Jaylen Brown, to me it is more likely he would be the odd man out than Hayward because of Stevens and all the franchise capital they've put towards him as one of the faces. I would love to do something about Lamb for Brown, how much more sweetener do you think it would take? I realize he looks worse this year, but I think it's situation. Ideally he would be the third star, but I think he would be a mediocre/capable second star and miles better than any of our other starters (other than Kemba)
