I think that Doncic is the next best thing in the NBA. He will be the next Dirk Nowitzki and even better.

You do understand that other than being European and playing for the Mavericks that they're nothing alike right?!

Not the same position, height, playing style, nothing...

I don’t think he’s gonna average 30 but he’s having one of the best scoring seasons from a rookie in recent memory. Especially for a teenager. Durant, Lebron, Curry etc... he’s on par or better as a rookie scorer. It’s certainly not laughable

Per the bleacherreport article linked to above, Luka is on pace to become the sixth rookie in NBA history to average 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists. The other five are Michael, Kareem, Oscar, Larry, and Grant Hill.

Lol @ Doncic translating to NBA. Riiiiiiight

What the **** does this have to do with my comment?

Anyways, not only would he likely not be able to average 30ppg, it wouldn't be beneficial to his team if he did. That isn't his game.

Nothing seems a bit extreme. Both will likely end up playing the bulk of their career at PF. Both are very dependable defensive rebounders. Both are extremely skilled. Both are good shooters.

Now, setting Doncic up with Dirk expectations is setting him up to fail. Dirk is one of the 12-15 best players of all-time and he played at an elite level far longer than most.

and I get the dread of lazy comparisons. I hate them too. But in this case you are talking about the best European player of all-time in Dirk and the best European prospect of all-time* and they are teammates. It would be naive to think they wouldn't be compared.

*Arvydas Sabonis is probably this, but because he wasn't ever going to be allowed to play in the NBA I'm excluding him--certainly no disrespect intended

Mitchell is up there for best scoring seasons from a rookie two. But like you said Doncic is 2 years younger and is more efficient

wcj vs ayton results

wcj: 14 pts, 5 reb, 2 ast in 22 min
ayton: 18 pts, 12 reb, 5 ast in 33 min

These refs really have something against carter. terrible phantom calls pretty much taking him out the game...

Similar to the movement seen in the NFL, refs now are taught to favor the offensive player. Building a rep as an elite defender should eventually gain him some credibility with refs.

Seems like Doncic is slowly getting his turnovers under control. He's got 3 turnovers in each of his last 5 games and is slowly bringing his average down.
