Re: Rui Hachimura
Are Thad Young or Paul Millsap bad comparisons for him?
Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

he is nowhere near that type of all-around player
he is really a straight line driver, with some touch, explosiveness, but doesn't do much more, to me he is more Marquese Chriss than he is those guys

I've seen just 2 games of him (one at Gonzaga, one with Japan), but he looks he has more potential to develop his skills than Chris, who is just a brain-less athlete and a punk.

Re: Rui Hachimura
Rui is pretty brain-less at least on the court, might be a harder worker, I have no insight there, but that's subjective

Time to upgrade this. A lot of potential with this guy. Still pretty green but so very effective. Has a lot of shooting potential as well. Has to be a top 10 prospect at absolute worst IMO.

Seems like a polarizing guy. Armchair draft nerds seem to either love him or hate him. I see a guy without the greatest feel but with definite impact out there. The guy scores like its breathing. IDK, can't seem him falling outside the top 10..

The dude is black. If his name is Ray Hachman, he would be a top 10 pick guaranteed. Who cares if his name is Japanese.

Right. If he was American-born I feel like the narratives surrounding him would be much different.

If he were a black 21-year-old American, nobody would be calling him "young in the game" and padding his upside because of it. Being Japanese has only helped his draft stock.

Fair. Maybe American-trained (ie Joel Embiid and Pascal Siakam) is more along the lines of what I was trying to get at. Had he moved to the states at 15 and played some high school ball here, I really think folks would view him a lot more favorably.

Very efficient and crafty on offense in this first half against Duke. Defense needs some work and doesn't really seem overly interested in rebounding just yet.

I think he can play the 3. He would be a beast there. Much like Jimmy Butler at SG instead of SF.
I like his upside. I think he goes 8-12.

He doesn't have the quickness or ballhandling ability to play the 3 on offense and wouldn't be able to defend 3's on the perimeter either. He's fine at the 4, no need to change things up.

Yes his NBA position is a SF. He has improved so much. I liked his fit 10-14 just as an athlete. He has taken huge steps this season.

He's a 4 that will likely get minutes at the 5.

This. We see eye to eye on a few things, it seems. I like you.

I THink you or anyone is way off when they project guys to small ball positions. He is a lottery pick because of his ability to play wings. Of course they could slide him to PF in a small ball lineup but that doesn't mean he is a PF.
NCAA positions are different. NBA wants a guy who can play both guards to play point. A forward that can play both forwards is still a sF
No doubt about the fact rui is looked at so highly because he is a 3 in the NBA. So what if he's a 4 at Gonzaga.

But he's not a 3. He doesn't have the playmaking nor the lateral quickness on defense - he has heavy feet. I'd be willing to bet that no NBA scout thinks he's a 3...because, again, he's not one. I'm willing to put up my projections vs anyone else's given my history, and other NBA scouting things I don't need to go public with but Duke, among other mods and posters, can vouch for. *This is in addition to my actual work experience in professional basketball, by the way.*
I'm pretty sure you're the same person who kept saying that Jared Cunningham is good on the Knicks board...
