ive been calling him a 6'7" Curry for a month. and that is exactly what he is.
but he might be even better. he can create all the curry shots...all the angles...make the passes...catch and shoot...
but...but...he has some thick juicy meat on dem bones!! So he can bang down low...take the contact and make shots.
Luke will be everything Curry AND be a finisher at the end of games...where curry has had to defer to either KD, Klay, or Iggy....Doncic will take the big shots in the paint!!
Doncic is a top 5 player right now!! And beyond an ROY candidate, he is an MVP candidate! yes he is!!![]()

I wouldn't quite go that far but I think you're not far off.
IF he continues to play the way he has been so far I think he will get votes for MVP - doubt he'd win it but I'm confident he'd get some votes.
here's the wild thing...magic, bird, MJ...their teams gave them the full and entire keys to the car...back then NBA role players knew their place. back then fists fights broke out on practice. back then GM's hired bullies (if needed) to cultivate their prized rookie if he needed a big brother in practice, locker room, and on the court.
In today's NBA its harder for a star to shine.
In dallas for example:
1. DSJ has become the modern day Ricky Davis...he cant get out of the way fast enough.
2. harrison Barnes, Wes mathews, and to a lessor extent deandre jordan know they are role players but also want the keys to the car a bit too much.
That is slowly changing...and as its changing...as Doncic gets the ball more often and as the offense evolves more and more around Doncic...the mavs look better.
But...I believe DSJ is a bad apple. Get what you can for him now. and frankly...get a great off ball shooter.
Luka needs a Klay thompson and a dray green to replace DSJ and Wes mathews. 2 way players. One being a shooter. the other a play maker facilitator to move the ball back to Doncic.
