ive been calling him a 6'7" Curry for a month. and that is exactly what he is.

but he might be even better. he can create all the curry shots...all the angles...make the passes...catch and shoot...

but...but...he has some thick juicy meat on dem bones!! So he can bang down low...take the contact and make shots.

Luke will be everything Curry AND be a finisher at the end of games...where curry has had to defer to either KD, Klay, or Iggy....Doncic will take the big shots in the paint!!

Doncic is a top 5 player right now!! And beyond an ROY candidate, he is an MVP candidate! yes he is!!

Dallas is getting it together and will end up with 45-55 wins when this season is said and done...Thats a magic johnson, Tim Duncan, Larry Bird rookie year turn around!! :o :o :o :o

I wouldn't quite go that far but I think you're not far off.

IF he continues to play the way he has been so far I think he will get votes for MVP - doubt he'd win it but I'm confident he'd get some votes.

here's the wild thing...magic, bird, MJ...their teams gave them the full and entire keys to the car...back then NBA role players knew their place. back then fists fights broke out on practice. back then GM's hired bullies (if needed) to cultivate their prized rookie if he needed a big brother in practice, locker room, and on the court.

In today's NBA its harder for a star to shine.

In dallas for example:

1. DSJ has become the modern day Ricky Davis...he cant get out of the way fast enough.
2. harrison Barnes, Wes mathews, and to a lessor extent deandre jordan know they are role players but also want the keys to the car a bit too much.

That is slowly changing...and as its changing...as Doncic gets the ball more often and as the offense evolves more and more around Doncic...the mavs look better.

But...I believe DSJ is a bad apple. Get what you can for him now. and frankly...get a great off ball shooter.

Luka needs a Klay thompson and a dray green to replace DSJ and Wes mathews. 2 way players. One being a shooter. the other a play maker facilitator to move the ball back to Doncic.
like i said, its a full rebuild.

LOL calm down buddy :D He is few years away to be a top5 player or an MVP candidate :P

But you can quote me and say how wrong i was if he brings the Mavs into a top4 playoffs spot. But that's next to impossible for now. Specially in the western conference.

The mavs have won 8 of their last 10 including major wins over GSW, Boston, Houston, thunder jazz...and beat the 76ers early.

They are trending way up. They will make the playoffs. They will likely win 45-55...depends on how fast the wannabe superstar settle into being role players(im talking to you DSJ, Wes mathews, harrsion barnes, Deandre jordan).

if those 4 buy in sooner than later? Mavs will win 52-55 games. If they resist? Mavs will still win about 45 games. And so long as the mavs dont draw the GSW, they will advance to the 2nd round. Book it!

There is a vacancy in the league. Beats the hell out of watching the Knicks. Don't all rush in at once.

So wonderfully done.

And congrats, Mavs fans. You've found your heir to Dirk.

Still mind blowing to me that the Hawks passed on the opportunity to get Doncic.

One of my favorite things he does is let the ball handler drive by him and then sneak behind the back for the block. First play on this vid and he does it all the time.

Straight shyster move.

Also, they should do DNA testing on Gortat. He's a clone of Matt Geiger. I swear it.

Mods, any chance we could perhaps have a thread for Dončić and a general rookie thread? I'm a big fan of Dončić, but it's getting bothersome that sooner or later this thread always comes back to Dončić, and I think that dissuades people from talking about other rookies. I'd love to read more about other rookies, and I think all the Luka talk in this thread is stifling the conversation about other rookies, many of which are having a great season thus far and/or are very intriguing prospects.

Bagley has seen an increase in minutes his last 6 games and he has played pretty damn good.

16/10/1 with 1.5 blocks on 54% shooting in just 28 minutes
