I remember I was camping when they picked him. Got some WiFi for a bit & watched some youtube clips. I thought he looked like another Jerome Williams JYD. Just an energy guy.

To be fair, even the people who loved the pick could not have predicted that he would change/ develop his game the way he has.

He has kinda proved everybody wrong. Just goes to show you what a ridiculous work ethic can do.

Honestly, I think he came to the Raps organization at just the right time, allowing him to rise through & develop his game through our d-league team and upgrading our facilities to give as much opportunity to succeed has been clutch.

I cant imagine how long it would have taken him to develop in previous Raptors era, or how much he'd be pigeonholed into certain roles because of how raw he was coming into the league.

Um no.

I can name way more times when fans got it wrong, and the team was right than the opposite.

- How about when Raptor fans booed Stoudamire cuz they wanted Ed O'Bannon?
- How about when Knicks fans booed Porzingis?

I could go on and on and on....

I had low expectations for him but the only thing I remembered about him when he was drafted was his work ethic.

This is why its good to draft raw talent when they demonstrate a high motor/willingness to improve. Demar and Siakam look completely different from their rookie season.

Meanwhile non-existent motor guys like Wiggins are still the same

All those people in the front pages with the exception of Choker took some major Ls.

I don't think I posted in this thread and I usually don't when it comes to players outside the lottery. The Wait and see approach is the best path to take when it comes to prospects but clearly Masai has proven right now that his drafting game is on point.
