Read on Twitter

The Grizzlies have also inquired on Ntilikina, according to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News.

The Grizzlies, of course, have Mike Conley at the point, so they’d likely envision Ntilikina in a different role than a team like the Suns or Magic would.

there are no indications at this point that Ntilikina is on the trade block in New York, though it’s possible that will change by February’s deadline. Fellow point guards Trey Burke and Emmanuel Mudiay will be free agents in 2019, so the Knicks will have to make some decisions this season on which of those three players – if any – they intend to prioritize over the long term.

Ntilikina isn't the guy I'm looking to see as a potential Grizzly.

The Grizzlies need a potential young asset as long as the cost is not too high.

They have plenty of 2nd rounders along with an expiring contract that should appeal to NY.

I'm all for it if we can get him cheap enough. Sure there are players I'd prefer but very few are actually in Memphis's price range given their assets.

You are almost there, but you are up against two challenges.

1. The Grizzlies are a small market team and this deal would put them over the luxury tax by almost 4 million dollars. Small market teams count on their dispersed share of the luxury tax payments to offset operational cost since their TV revenues are not on par with large markets.
2. The Grizzlies need a PF who is serviceable back in the deal since Green is a major part of the rotation and dealing him would create a weakness that can't be filled in house.

The Grizzlies don't really have a realistic shot at high level free agents, so their only road to an above average scoring wing is via trade. The expiring contracts of Garrett Temple and JaMychal Green could possibly return the following without going into the tax:

Ken Bazemore - ATL
Trevor Ariza - Phoenix
Eric Gordon - Houston
Kentavious Caldwell Pope - LA Lakers
Khris Middleton - Milwaukee

With these many realistic options available it is therefore unlikely they go into the luxury tax for Tim Hardaway Jr.

I would do this I think. Memphis really doesn't want to pay the Luxury tax but would in this case on the grounds that they should be able to get back under the luxury tax the next year. THJ would also provide shooting and scoring for the starting lineup and Anderson can get minutes at PF. Ntilikina could potentially be a future core piece next to JJJ. MarShon Brooks could be included and waived by NYK if Memphis wanted the luxury tax hit to be reduced.

Suns wanted Dillon Brooks. Grizzlies wanted out. The Grizzlies need to go after a scorer to spell some relief for Conley before they overwhelm him to the point of injury.

When I heard about it on the news, it was goofy. It goes to the status of how things are run in Phoenix. If I'm these guyss though, they may feel a certain kind of way given that the team were under the impression they were getting Kelly Oubre and all they had to do was to trade Marshon, Seldon, and Temple to get the trade done.

Not Temple. It was supposed to be MarShon, Seldon, and 2020 MEM 2nd (as well as a conditional 2nd) for Oubre. PHX thought we were giving up Dillon as well as picks for Oubre.

The most disappointing part of all of this is that our front office was not initiating this deal and operating with a sense of urgency given our current form. We need a starting caliber scoring Shooting Guard, pronto and they are being a bit too cavalier for my liking.

So Austin Rivers.........

Local sources are now saying the signing will not happen. It is very tiring being a Grizzlies fan unless you absolutely love mediocrity or being just good enough.

At this point, they should pay the fans a salary for dealing with some of this inconsistency of just being content.

Just curious what do you think Memphis would part with for a deal of Hill/Ersan for Parson/assets or even Middleton/Ersan for Parsons/assets?
