2018-2019 OKC Thunder Regular Season Pt 1: A Renewed Hope

Our composition would fall to pieces without Adams.
I feel like Beal + Mahinmi night just be better than Ferguson + Adams but heck what do I know?
That's not a realistic option anyway since it adds too much salary due to Mahinmi's horrendous contract.
If you add Abrines + Roberson, I’m pretty sure the money works.
I think Roberson’s avulsion fracture may have screwed us there, though. That’s my fear anyway.

He's not talking about salary matching. He's talking about Mahinmi having 3 years left on his deal, which means you're comitting to paying both him and Beal 40 million each season.

He has 2 years left, but still it would be a terrible deal to take that contract too if you are trading Adams for Beal.

Re: 2018-2019 OKC Thunder Regular Season Pt 1: A Renewed Hope
Looking at some lineup data, our main guys have done really well 25 games into the season. Among the 181 3-man-units with at least 300 minutes played so far (this is per basketball reference), the Thunder have the four best 3-man units per NetRtG
Ferguson-George-Adams at +20.3
Schröder-Grant-Adams at +17.1
Schröder-George-Grant at +16.7
Schröder-George-Adams at +16.6
Out of the 15 in NetRtG, the Thunder have a total of eight 3-man-lineups; Toronto has six and the Pelicans have one.
If you filter for 4-man-lineups with at least 150 mp, then the Thunder get 5 lineups in the Top 10 in NetRtG:
Schröder-Ferguson-George-Adams at +24.0
Ferguson-George-Grant-Adams at +23.3
Westbrook-Ferguson-George-Grant at +21.1
Westbrook-Schröder-George-Adams at +20.5
Westbrook-Ferguson-George-Adams at +18.2
Here are some splits for these lineups per stats.nba.com:
Schröder-George-Adams ON and Westbrook ON: +18.5 NetRtG in 165 minutes
Schröder-George-Adams ON and Westbrook OFF: +11.5 NetRtG in 266 minutes
Westbrook-George-Adams ON and Schröder OFF: +11.8 NetRtG in 275 minutes
Westbrook-George-Adams ON and Ferguson ON: +17.3 NetRtG in 159 minutes
Westbrook-George-Adams ON and Ferguson OFF: +13.4 NetRtG in 284 minutes
And finally, this is the lineup data for Adams at the 5 and all combinations of Westbrook, Schröder, Ferguson, George and Grant on the floor with him per cleaningtheglass:

For comparison, these are the combinations for Lowry at the 1 + Leonard, Green, Ibaka, Siakam

Combinations for Lopez at the 5 + Bledsoe, Middleton and Giannis:

And finally Curry-Thompson-Green-Durant:

Looks like our main guys have been able to actually outperform the best of the best so far. If only we could learn how to shoot.
Ferguson-George-Adams at +20.3
Schröder-Grant-Adams at +17.1
Schröder-George-Grant at +16.7

So, Schroder haters, we have passed the ball from Grant hate to Schroder, without anyone even noticing. Guess the trend is that Westbrook is the one getting the ball.
But before the ball is passed, ppl who said sheat should eat their own sheat before opening another patch.

English please. Or German and Pil can translate.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

God no, that's awful on the surface and if Dre came back healthy would be horrendous.

Yea but lets trade Adams.. its not like hes important or anything.
That link you posted needs to be explained in laymans terms for the boxscore watchers.. people seem to forget about what he does because he isnt getting Drummond reb numbers

Please. I really do. I don’t know how a player who just suffered an avulsion fracture + an inconsistent bench shooter in Abrines + Steven Adams is more valuable than Bradley **** Beal.
Yeah, I need some kind of explanation.

Mahinmi will make more than 30 mil for the next two seasons and he cant even make it on the court for the wiz..
Adams has been a part of all our best lineups this year. You know.. the line ups thqt have some of the best net ratings in the entire league.. this, as a result, has given the thunder the best winning percentage in the entire west.
You talk of Beal like hes MJ. Yea hes a good 2 but you dont disrupt a winning recipe unless its for a top 5-10 player that you know will get you over the hump.
You also need to see how Robes comes back. If you trade him, then he gets back to 100% for someone else sam will be kicking himself.
This isnt 2k MYGM. You dont just get a better team by adding a player with a higher rating than the ones you traded..

By the way, can I just say how much I appreciate George's effort on the defensive end. Like last night he took a shot that missed badly, but instead of get down on himself he turned around and harassed Ingles at the other end and get the ball back. Impressive stuff.

George isn’t really a tough guy or fighter but I think he really hates Jingles after the playoffs last year.

I think my biggest concern with Beal is if he can be ok not being the guy. I think he believes he can/should be the alpha of a team. GSW works so well because Klay and Draymond are completely fine just playing their roles.
I don’t know if he’d be ok playing the Klay Thompson role, which is what I think he would become on this team.
Plus the massive downgrade this team would then encounter with the lack of offensive rebounding and cleaning up all the bad that comes with a player like Russ (please don’t run with this and think that I’m anti Russ, Im ride or die with Russ for life) that Adams brings to this team. He covers over a multitude of Russ sins, and allows Russ to reach levels of play that I don’t think would be possible without him on the floor. I can’t think of a better center to pair with a player like Russ.
But in order to get the best version of the Thunder team without Adams and with Beal, Russ would likely need to morph into a 3pt shooter he will never be. That’s why this trade scares the crap out of me.
