Ya I know...just weird how they both fizzled some. Wiggins is super athletic but the skill of basketball is missing. Jabari needs to take conditioning seriously. Nontrade though I was semi kidding.

I meant the contract. Actually both are bust.

This is some interesting info from Travis Schlenk regarding trade deadline, draft etc. from his recent Podcast interview with Bumbling Brad which I thought I'd post here:

-Juggling job responsibilities as the trade deadline approaches and a pivotal draft looms.
1. He's at some college games if he needs to be.
2. Getting calls on vets.
3. He has no interest in taking on long term salary for 2nds.
4. He said he knew some fans were upset for him not trading Beli and Illy but he had no interest in taking on added salary for 2nds.
5. On Dedmon picking up his option, he was concerned if Hawks drafted a big he would be relegated to the bench for development of the big. TS assured him if that was the case as the season went on he'd do right by him and move him.
6. He intimated (and I'm interpreting) that if by some miracle the team continues to play well and say get to 41 wins then that's when they would look to sign big FAs as the team would be ready to win, but he's happy with his 2 top 10 picks  in 2019. He said they projected the Dallas pick would end up at #8.
7. He's not looking to acquire anymore 2019 picks (we have 5, 2 1s and 3 2nds). He did make a good point on 2nd rounders which I didn't think about - they usually sign a 2 year deal, if they outplay the contract you have no bird rights and you are limited in what you can pay them, some other team can swoop in and nab them.
8. He feels for players when there names get thrown out in trade talks, they're human and have families etc.....but all the players want is honesty about whatever is happening.
9. He wants future 1sts, so 2020 and beyond.
10. He always wants to have assest and financial flexibility.
11. Opportunities to trade these pick for young players.

6. Funny he said Dallas would end up at #8, I always had them slated 8-12 as well. Nice.

The most important thing he said is if he thinks the kids are ready, that will change how they go into FA. Meaning if they are asset buying or are we going for a fish in FA

Me too, I have them charted at 38-42. I am hearing they want Porter, I just don't see them being able to out trade SAC for him. SAC got a lot more assets unless they are willing to move DSJ for him but who's the 3rd team that will part with an asset to Washington for him? That's going to be the tough part.

ATL gets 2020 OKC 1st top 20 protected and 2021 PHI 1st top 10 protected.
ORL gets Fultz.
PHI gets Prince and J. Simmons.

How close is something like that for you guys?

Not a fan of the protection of the OKC pick but it's reasonable value for Prince if the protection of the PHI pick is declining. That to say, it doesn't seem like our GM is that open to trading him at this time.

meaning top 10
top 5
top 5
top 3
unprotected

It's a terrible offer if it's one of those two 2nd trash picks. Two 2nds just don't have much value. That's like two Tyler Dorsey's on norm and a lot of times, worse. Naw. Easy pass.

I have been trying to think of a veteran center that the Warriors might be able to add this season and thought of Dedmon. Do you think TS and the Hawks would have any interest in anyone on the Warriors roster outside of their core 4, maybe Jacob Evans - Livingston? Has there been any talk of a buyout?

I recently posted I had them pegged around 10th, which is right about where hey sit last I looked. I also predicted Hawks with 28 wins and 12th in the East, also looking on target. We psychic...

I could see Evans as being the type of player they'd be looking for in return. Young guy, probably still got some 'meat' on the developmental bone.

Do the Warriors have any pick-assets that would make sense though?

I imagine they'd want to deal him rather than buy him out. However, as was the case last year with Belli' and 'Sova, that's a dicey proposition. The supposed promise to 'do right by' Deadman tells me he's getting bought out if not dealt. That's just me reading between the lines though.

DeWayne Dedmon and 2019 second round draft pick from Charlotte for Harry Giles.

Sac gets a back up C to keep pushing up the playoff ladder.
Hawks get a young upside guy.

I would do it but I've seen Kings fans extremely reluctant to trade Giles. I am not sure he fits this type of pace.

I hate trading for injury plagued guys. I loved Travis Mays many moons ago but he was always on the shelf. Giles body is crazy with herky jerky movements. I’d pass on this one personally.

That's actually...a really astute observation.

I do like Giles as a prospect. But our ragged pace might indeed only serve to wear him down.

NOTE: I'd still be willing to move an expiring and a low 2nd rounder for him. not sure that'd be enough for the Kings, tho.

NBA trade rumors: With Kyle Lowry out, Raptors search for playmaking help

Image

Call it the Friday Rumor-rama. (Or don’t.)

All-Star, Kyle Lowry, sat idly in a black warmup suit, in back of the bench.

Lowry was out for the fifth straight game with a bad back, an injury that has dogged him since the end of November. Toronto has gone just 9-8 since his injury, which has brought a serious issue with the Raptors into sharp relief: They’re very, very low on players with playmaking skills outside of Lowry.

While Fred VanVleet is an excellent second-unit point guard, the offense isn’t as dynamic and Wright is forced to take on too much ball handling with the second unit.

So what’s to be done? A trade, of course.

The best possibility would be Minnesota’s Jeff Teague.

Maybe the best option would be to pluck Jeremy Lin from the Hawks. Lin has been solid in coming back after knee surgery, averaging 10.4 points and 3.3 assists in 18.6 minutes, making 38.6 percent of his 3-pointers. That’s a good fit. Plus, he’d be plenty motivated to stick it to the Nets by going from the bottom-dwelling Hawks to a contender.

I’m sorry I didn’t like the term pluck from our roster. I realize we are feathery friends but we don’t run a chicken mill/coop for your desired picking! Stop testing our cow’s milk and buy the damn thing already. Lol. Sorry this comes from years of the media acting like we a farm system. I realize Lin wasn’t ours just making a point.

I was thinking the same.
What exactly do they have to offer? Not interested in taking on 2019/20 salary for a 2nd since to match salaries they'll probably want to send CJ Miles who isn't an expiring, Delon Wright is interesting but he's coming up on RFAcy. Send on OG then I'm interested.

Oooohhhh OG and Semi. I wanted those two pretty badly in that draft. Massai loves OG Serge and Pascal. Pascal is another we should be eyeing at some point. He looks solid.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
