We compared him to a lot of players just based on what he can do. I think now that we have a lot of tape on him as fans, Hedo Turkoglu is the one he is most like.

I don't know about that, Hedo was a really good passer.

True. I mean from the stance that both are secondary playmakers. Not so much the same player.

I honestly believe Prince will come back a better player after watching from the sidelines. I feel like he got caught up in 'putting his peers on notice'(his words), which led to him trying to do things outside of his current skill level. The Hawks need the Prince from last season but with better defensive effort. "Drew League Prince" should only come out when he's hot.

Travis answers some tough question regarding Taurean's play this season.

The Athletic: Taurean (Prince) has been out for a few weeks now, but when he was healthy, he was near the bottom of the league in assist-to-turnover ratio. We’ve seen ball movement is a priority for you on offense. How do you see him fitting into the team when he does get back, not only this season but moving forward?
____________________________________________________________________________________________

Schlenk: I think Taurean came into the year with a great summer of working out. We had to deal with a lot of young players coming in and having to learn a new system. He was trying to learn on the fly. One of the things that he’s been able to do (since his injury) is have a better idea of what Lloyd is looking for.

The past few days, Lloyd has been working with him personally.

Taurean is getting closer. Hopefully, in the next seven to 10 days, he’ll be back. We’re just excited to get him back out there. Again, just because it was two months, that’s a really short time to have strong opinions about someone.

The Athletic: Did you feel, when he was healthy, and from looking at the stats, it looks like his defense regressed a bit. What did you see out of him on that end?
_______________________________________________________________________________________________

Schlenk: It wasn’t just Taurean. We weren’t a very good defensive team for those first two months. Everyone’s numbers were down. You can’t just look at the box scores for this. One of the things about Taurean, when we drafted him, was because of his defense. He has it in him to be a good defensive player. Maybe we have to redirect the focus there a little bit, but again, I don’t have any concerns about him. Taurean is one of the best catch-and-shoot players in this league. He’s a valuable commodity and has the ability to be a very good defensive player. As he gets accustomed to a new defensive system and understand what Lloyd is trying to accomplish in a team setting — I’m not worried about Taurean at all.

If this was the stock market, then we'd talking about trading commodities. 8-)

I like that CLP has been working with him personally. Hopefully sitting on the bench he's learned some valuable lessons.

The Philadelphia 76ers are considering trades that would immediately help their depth as the team prepares for a grueling stretch of their schedule.

One possible trade target, according to Kevin O’Connor, includes Atlanta Hawks 25-year-old wing Taurean Prince (via The Ringer):

“Prince stands out as a guy that a team should be targeting…. I have heard teams like the Sixers, the Blazers, and the Thunder could be looking at Taurean Prince. I think you can look at a team like the Sixers, he’s exactly what they need …He’s exactly what they wish Wilson Chandler was.”

The 6-foot-7 forward could be a natural fit based on what the front office is looking for right now.

A report today from Sean Deveney suggested the Sixers are one of a few teams who could be willing to trade their first-round pick for immediate shooting help.  The Sixers 2019 first round pick would be the 25th overall if the NBA Draft were today, per Tankathon.com. It’s likely to remain in this range.

O’Connor discusses the possibility of packaging either Zhaire Smith or second-year guard Markelle Fultz in a potential deal for Prince. He argues a closing lineup of Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler, Joel Embiid, JJ Redick with Prince would be “unbelievable” for Philadelphia.

Because it needs to happen. And we can benefit from it long term if we handle it properly.

The Hawks have engaged with teams on veteran players Kent Bazemore and Dewayne Dedmon, but also have discussed forward Taurean Prince, league sources said. In his third season, Prince is averaging 14.1 points and 4.1 rebounds.

Also worth monitoring: guard Tyler Dorsey. Dorsey chose to play for the Hawks’ G League affiliate, Erie, last Wednesday in order to receive more playing time and repetition on the court. Dorsey posted 36 points, 13 rebounds and five assists in 43 minutes in a victory for Erie, using the G League to showcase himself ahead of the trade deadline.

This has cash considerations written all over it if Dorsey is traded

Prince came into the league as a hard nosed defender, who'd rather drive the ball. Bud gave him that "LTSF" mantra, and he's become a ball stopping 3 point chucker.

I feel the damage has been done. Time to get some type of future 1st, and build on without him.

For those on other team forums

Prince is a wing who is an excellent shooter. His defense is inconsistent on a bad team and he better with usage. Not so much without it. He wants to score as thats his best trait. I wouldn't tag him a 3/D player but he is a good talent. Sucks it didn't work here but he was nice under Coach Bud.

I don't think he is damaged goods or anything. Still plenty young enough to pivot to the right balance with his game. It was problematic that he came in thinking of himself as the #1 option this year. He needs to play a game with more focus on D and with an expectation of being a 3-5 option on offense.

Not a bad idea to see what we can get for Prince. We are probably going to draft at least one wing to go along with Huerter, as this draft is so top heavy with them. Anything is better than not matching and letting him walk for nothing; if he is not in our long range plans.

I would want a mid 1st for him and think it's easily possible due to his position and talent level but I don't want another pick in this draft unless it's in the top 8 range.

I would trade for Z-Bo to get rid of Plumlee. Prince and Plumlee for Z-Bo

I'll rather cap space over a mid 1st in this draft. I haven't seen anything next year to make me feel better about that either. We need more top 10 picks from lottery teams.

We took Prince 12th and I think Schlenk values Prince more than a 15 to 20 Pick. Any pick from Philadelphia will be somewhere in the mid to late 20s for a few years to come. Probably why Zhaire Smith or Markelle Fultz are being mentioned as possible pieces. Things are going to be interesting.

They would be fools to give up on Smith and Fultz can't even shoot. I wouldn't touch him with an asset whatsoever.

I'm very pleased to see Schlenk willing to move Prince. The sooner it happens the better.
