Luke Walton: Relationship With Magic Johnson Has Been Good

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Jan 11, 2019 8:42 pm

Luke Walton spoke candidly about his relationship with Magic Johnson halfway through his third season with the Los Angeles Lakers, but the first with LeBron James.

“It’s been good,” Walton said of the relationship with Magic. “Honestly, it has. …Anytime I call him, he calls back within an hour or two, and we talk hoops. He wants to win, and I want to win. So as far as that (goes), we’re all trying to do the same thing, and I don’t feel like he’s trying to move me out of there.

“We definitely talked about (the Oct. 30 meeting). Me and him, one on one. We one hundred percent have moved forward from it. I don’t think it has changed anything. We still – it’s still the ultimate goal, and there’s time when I’ll call him or go sit in his office and pick his brain on what he’s seeing and what kind of suggestions he might have. But there’s no – what’s the word – discomfort. I don’t walk in there, and it’s like ‘(Expletive), I’ve got to go talk to Magic.’ Like, I have no problem going in and sitting down with him and talking about what’s going on without thinking about that at all.”

It's been "good".. enough for me to know that it has been not so pleasant. Nobody ever says things are just "good" when things are going well.

Good, until he fires you Luke!

How about helping your team raise their FT percentage?

How about pulling Zo BEFORE he shoots you out of a game?

How about hiring s Coach that can MAKE them better defensively and NOT hire your ex-college buddies?

Psychologically revealing words used:

Honestly
Definitely
100 percent
I don't think
Have moved forward
No ... discomfort
Problem.

Look, I thought he was the young man in coaching. But read fluently from top to bottom from what I selected up there. Then tell me I'm wrong with a straight face when I say:

He has but two months.

Maybe two days.

Edit: It's over. AND: LeBron's a clown.

I will still bet on Luke being the first thrown under the bus when they miss the playoffs.

Yeah, that's about as tepid a positive response as it gets.
The hottest of takes...
