Steve Kerr: DeMarcus Cousins Will Start Immediately

Steve Kerr said that DeMarcus Cousins will be in the starting lineup once he returns from his Achilles injury.

Cousins is targeting a January 18th game against the Clippers as his return date, although Kerr mentioned that he could come back as early as the 16th against the Pelicans.

Kerr added that he has yet to figure out a rotation or how many minutes Cousins will play.

"I'll start him. After that, everything's on the table. We have to figure out what the rotations will look like, how many minutes he can play. We'll have to play around with him — the minutes, the combinations, the sets. We haven't had a player like him here before," said Kerr.

He's one of the best centers in the league. Yeah he's coming off injury, but he can start and still be limited. Smaller minutes is the key. Minutes should grow as he gets in tune with his level of play after a handful of games. Starting him is what I'd do.

Like who exactly? Kevon Looney and his 26 career starts over 4 seasons?

Starting Couins makes complete sense because Kerr wants to get him as many reps with the top players as he can to develop chemistry.

Makes sense to start him. He'll be loose from pre-game shootaround and warm-ups. Don't want his Achilles to tighten up on the bench.

I wonder whether it was smart coming back from injury with a team looking to 3-peat and not resign you the following season.

GSW have nothing to lose on the gamble of injuring cousins further.

Will be a flashback to old big starting look, like with Bogut and Zaza. Warriors have done less mobile good passing P&R saavy big many times, and it will work. Boogie will excel and even hobbled match zaza in effectiveness. Zaza always left early and Bell or Looney to come in will sub in with Iggy/Livingstone for a defensive faster, small ball with length look with KD, Klay ( "curry chatting with Boogie on bench)

This is obviously the way to go. Dude averaged 25 12 and 5 before he got injured and people worried about KEVIN LOONEY. Pfffffff
Play the man with Steph, Klay, and Durant as much as possible. Looking forward to Boogie and Dray getting up in guys faces. 2019 version of Lambieer and Mahorn......
