In many ways it feels worse, because back then we were naive and still believed that Krause's plan could eventually pay off. Now we're fed the same BS every couple years as the franchise tries to reset itself.

Krause was incompetent at the end of his tenure.

This front office is incompetent and operates with obvious contempt for the fans.

I felt better under Krause.

Krauses plan was way better than anything these people have done. His logic was always solid and really if Curry was even half way decent player that could have had potential to work. His FA plan really was a great idea he just couldn't factor how unlikable he was.

This? This is shameful. Really shameful. I can't comprehend the motivation behind this. I can't justify the logic in any way shape or form. Unless they are planning in tanking continually.

Not sure he was incompetent I think he was just shocked that none of his plans worked. He couldn't factor in his own weaknesses. These guys geez, I have no clue.

FFS.

If you have to make moves (like the Forman extension and whatever the hell this is with Boylan) in secret, then they are not the right moves.

The Bulls cannot help themselves. They are addicted to idiots.

FU Bulls.

Besides the 04-07 stretch where Pax looted Isiah of all the Knicks' draft picks... I generally felt better under Krause, and that's not saying much.

Besides for Curry's heart condition and personal issues taking him totally out the league, pretty much most the guys Krause scouted in had really successful careers eventually (Brand, Chandler, Artest, B. Miller, J. Crawford still has a pulse almost 2 decades later). E-Rob was a big salary blunder, Tim Floyd was a horrible hire, and the Jalen Rose trade was a desperate disaster... but the guy did try really hard to bring T-Mac, who he rightfully predicted was the NBA's next superstar. He had the right ideas.

Not sure what GarPax's end goal is other than making 1st round exits. Atleast Krause had this consistent vision for lanky two-way athletes who could develop playmaking skills. He was a bust, but I could atleast see the allure of E-Rob. The guy had Pippen's frame and was a NBA Jam highlight reel with a pretty silky baseline jumper (albeit awkward overhead shooting mechanics).

Pax is pretty picky with attitudes and imprinting his personal 2c instead of making objective basketball decisions. I bet the guy would waive a young Allen Iverson if he fell into his lap, telling him to toss the headband or lose his job.

There is zero chance the Bulls guaranteed $1M of Boylen’s salary just to fire him this summer. Zero.

This is the part where the front office compounds their cost-driven move with a lie that treats us like were born fuccing yesterday. Fucc them.

Right when I thought this franchise couldn’t get any worse. Holy ****. I’m stunned.

There’s no interim in Boylen’s title because he’s under contract through next season, and the Bulls plan to give him every opportunity to become the long-term answer for a management team that in 15 years has now hired five coaches: Skiles, Vinny Del Negro, Tom Thibodeau, Hoiberg and Boylen.

So is it that we extended with a pay bump or just gave him a pay bump to his existing deal?

As the head coach, he got a pay bump above his assistant coach level pay running through the end of his pre-existing assistant coaching contract.

I don't want to retain Boylen after this year, but this isn't a big deal. In fact, the exact same thing happened with Larry Drew earlier this year in Cleveland, and it became a PR problem for the Cavs. They ended up bumping his deal up to head-coach level income as well. I don't think its uncommon.

Kind of a non-issue. And I bet Boylen's still on a tremendous bargain deal for a head coach. We'll find out I guess. It also wouldn't surprise me if the buy out upon termination is still the assistant level salary rate. But I doubt we ever learn that level of detail.

Basically what I said. I figured. A lot of over-reacting in this thread. The Bulls aren't locking themselves into anything meaningful or showing any sort of genuine commitment to Boylen here. Take a deep breath.

This report says the Bulls gave Boylen a contract for next season. Not a non-issue at all. Bulls aren’t paying 3 head coaches, so Boylen is our coach until 2020 at minimum. Good luck attracting any free agents.

What has Boylen done to deserve a raise? They have been worse with him than Fred.

He is getting a bump for the sole reason of being the head coach.

This doesn't bother me at all. It's not my money and it doesn't count against the salary cap. I kind of assumed he got a salary increase.
