Horrible coaching on Spo though. The media needs him to ask him to explain why he iced Winslow when he had it going. Its was stupid. Last year it took him half a season to put the ball in Winslow hands. I feel like Spo is holding him back. Him and the organization need to get their priorities straight. Winslow, J Rich, Bam , DJJ are the future. They should be getting the bulk of the minutes, whatever the other guys get doesnt not matter.
The thing is this though: Winslow’s responsibilities are beyond offensive playmaker. Spo relies on him to also guard the best player in crunch time and run the offense. Our team hinges on versatility to compensate for not having one guy who is extremely proficient and reliable in one area - except for tj and rich from beyond the arc. So risking overplaying Winslow - who needs to learn to remain consistently reliable as a scorer anyway - is too costly, given the amount of responsibility he has overall.
I think it’s wild that this team is even above .500. Our best players are Winslow and rich when the rest of the semi decent teams all seem like they have a clear cut all star. I think spo is doing a great job giving rich and Winslow room to grow this year while still winning games.
He's 22 not 36. Playing him 36 - 38 mins a night won't kill him. And when you are an elite player you are expected to score and do everything else. That's the level we want Justise to get to. Subbing a guy who's hot with 4 mins in the 3rd and putting him back 6 mins in the 4th is horrible coaching, plain and simple. You get sit a guy that long and expect him to maintain his rythmn. It's no shocker Justise didnt score in the 4th. Bringing Justise in with 6, 7 mins left can't continue. He's gotta be back with 8 mins left, like most starters are in the NBA. I don't know anyone rational who watched this game who didnt think we almost lost because of Spo. He has to a better job with his rotations
