Blazers, Pelicans, Sixers Interested In Jeremy Lin

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jan 12, 2019 3:33 am

Looking to upgrade their depth, the Portland Trail Blazers have expressed interest in acquiring Jeremy Lin from the Atlanta Hawks.

The Hawks are looking for a first-round pick in exchange for Lin. The Pelicans and Sixers have also inquired about the point guard.

The 30-year-old Lin is averaging 11 points and 3.5 assists per game this season.

Good player and would be one of the top bench Point Guards in the league.

Plays the pick and roll really well, so hopefully Pels or Sixers.

A 1st rounder?
Lol, only if it's top-20 protected. :lol:

There's nothing to 'lol' about, it's more about your ability to understand the situation , no lottery teams are gonna trade for him to boost their bench/depth , it's obvious Hawks is only looking for late 1st rounder from playoff team

I don't see the Pels or Blazers giving up a 1st. The 76ers is possible, but still highly unlikely.

I was really wanting Lin until we added Rivers. He wouldn't be worth the cost now.

Always been a fan, counting down the days he has left with my Hawks. People who know realize that his .456 FT rate would have him fitting in well with any team, by far the best for any “true” PG.

if not for his plethora of injuries, i can't imagine too many playoff teams not wanting lin, especially those with poor backcourt depth.

hell, any team should want a guy like lin - not for a first rounder, if you're in the lottery, though. he's a good lockerroom guy, plays hard, very high bballiq. you'd be dumb not to want a guy like him - again, unless you're a lottery team that needs to give up a first rounder.

He is one of the best backup point guards in the league, would for sure improve those teams. But even if it is a late first that's a lot to give up for half a season of Lin.

The Sixers couldn't acquire Jeremy Lin, even if they wanted to;
They would have to trade expiring Wilson Chandler, but the Sixers are too weak at PF to risk losing him;
Also, the Sixers would never give up their 1st round pick for an often injured (hamstring) Lin;

The Sixers will have a better idea soon, whether Markelle Fultz could be available after the All Star break;
Even if Fultz can't yet shoot well from distance (assuming improvement with his TOS after physical therapy), his passing and defense would help the Sixers more so that Lin;

Sixers could also trade Fultz + a small contract, for Lin, and believe me, if they did that, the Hawks would jump on the offer, without asking for the Sixers first round pick; It would be a gamble well worth it;
I doubt the Sixers would trade Fultz anyway; His agent says he will return this season, but he also said that he will be 100%; That would mean it is unlikely that he will be able to showcase his recovery before the trade deadline;

How many PGs do the Sixers need? Already have Simmons, McConnell and Shamet. Not to mention Fultz who may or may not come back.

Lin is decent from 3 can play better defence than Mcconell.. he could be used as an SG as well.. Not worth a first rounder though because he doesn't get you too the NBA finals let alone get you the win..
