Nowhere in that "article," that's for sure.

Definitely doesn't it say it, but it might not be wrong either. Two may be an exaggeration, but unfortunately, PG13 looks way better this year than he has the previous two. And he looked better his first year back than Hayward has. That second surgery thing really screwed up the timeline. He'll be vastly improved (barring setback) come the playoffs, but even by next training came, he'll really only have 1 year under his belt.

Hayward showing signs of life today. That's got to help.

I'd like to see the W-L numbers for when he scores over 15. Can't remember many L's when that happens. Dude is key to how far we go this year.

Hasn't had many such games. 8-1 when he scores 15+. 11-1 when he shoots at least 50% from the field. 18-3 when he's a plus while on the floor.

I thought he looked pretty damn good in this game, especially that first half with all those shots.

At least there are flashes of the old GH. Considering how bad that injury was, its amazing he can score 30 points in a game sometimes. PG is the exception, but i fully expect GH to get back to 80 percent of his former self by the playoffs.

PG was kinda bad his entire first season when he came back. He was kinda OK his 2nd season and now he's at a top 10 level.
Good assessment:
PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.

It's almost as though it takes time for an elite NBA player to come back from a major leg injury...who woulda thunk?

Digging back, KG had much better lift in the 2011 season than he did in the 2010 season. Of course the two injuries are nothing alike, but coming back from being out for so long is not a short rise for everyone.MyInsatiableOne wrote:FlatearthZorro wrote:Scarletfire81 wrote:At least there are flashes of the old GH. I don't think this is true? Unless my memory+bball reference is way off. George came back in April from his summer injury. In comparable time, he broke his leg 2.5 months in the calendar year before Hayward did.
George then came back the following season(equivalent to what Hayward is playing now) and was a 23 ppg scoring all star, including a 48 point game in December.
I get the desire to compare them, but I'm not sure the injuries should be compared and Hayward's second surgery was probably a bigger deal than most realized. At least timeline wise.

Smh. Watching KG limp through those 2010 finals were so sad. He was much better in 2011 & 2012 before he really lost a step in 2013 when Rondo went down. & He hurt his knee 2/2009 & the finals were 6/2010. & He was blatantly not right 16 months later. Crazy.

That 08-09 team was the best of the KG era until he got hurt. Championship all but assured.

Re: Gordon Hayward Thread
the way Hayward played against Toronto last night is EXACTLY what I'd like to see from him moving forward on a more regular basis. Celts do not need him scoring 25-30pts per game. They need him contributing a consistent 15-20 off the bench with solid assist and rebound numbers. The Celtics have a superstar in Kyrie that is the head of the snake. Kyrie needs Hayward/Tatum/Horford to be the 3 guys that consistently produce to help take some of the pressure off Kyrie. Then you still have Morris/Brown/Rozier that can have nice scoring nights as well. Baynes/Smart are crucial, but not from a scoring perspective. They can impact the game positively and score 0 points.
great win last night. Praying that's the turning point in the season. I still have my doubts that Rozier & Brown are cool with being complimentary guys off the bench every night. I actually thought Brown & Rozier were good last night and played a nice role....the big question is are they okay with their roles being 18-24mpg and not getting too many shots??? Hmmmmm

Goddamn. Thanks CG. Those are insane numbers. Goes to show what Boston would have been last year if he never pulverized his ankle..or what we can still be if he turns into a simple 15ppg player. If this guy can recover well enough to become Kyrie's Robin in the playoffs this team is going places.

Great post, ddb.
Agree with all of it.
Sure hope that was finally the turning point & CONSISTENCY ensues.
SamIam 2010: Truth's ability to play so incredibly efficiently is so UNDERAPPRECIATED. Bballcool 2012: Amazing how great Pierce has been for so long. Continues to defy age! KG 2013: P is original Celtic. Wherever he goes, we go. This is The Truth's house.

His shooting % were way off during the regular season and he was on a team where he was the man.
