They need him contributing a consistent 15-20 off the bench with solid assist and rebound numbers. The Celtics have a superstar in Kyrie that is the head of the snake. Kyrie needs Hayward/Tatum/Horford to be the 3 guys that consistently produce to help take some of the pressure off Kyrie. Then you still have Morris/Brown/Rozier that can have nice scoring nights as well. Baynes/Smart are crucial, but not from a scoring perspective. They can impact the game positively and score 0 points.
great win last night. Praying that's the turning point in the season. I still have my doubts that Rozier & Brown are cool with being complimentary guys off the bench every night. I actually thought Brown & Rozier were good last night and played a nice role....the big question is are they okay with their roles being 18-24mpg and not getting too many shots??? Hmmmmm

Great post, ddb.
Agree with all of it.

Sure hope that was finally the turning point & CONSISTENCY ensues.

Mook has been a more consistent producer all year, if you're talking about points, than anyone other than Kyrie.

Anyone think he is going to replace Morris as starter by season's end? He isn't consistent enough obviously but is Morris either? Mook has cooled off a bit lately but yeah he has done a lot this year.

Obviously we all know Smart is starting permanently.

I see Baynes as the next starter depending on matchups if anything.

Just read the article on ESPN saying Hayward has to level up...which I agree with.

I was very dissapointed to read this...

"That status is precisely why, despite the many ups and downs his season has gone through so far, the Celtics continue to run Hayward out there for significant minutes on a nightly basis. That decision, at times, has frustrated the younger members of the team, who see Hayward as an impediment to the roles they grew accustomed to."

Let's see the anonymous youngsters get 2 max contracts , make the all-star game then break their leg in a horrific injury. This crap pisses me off

That's from Tim Bontemps and it's 100% made up.

I mean I would be mad too with the minutes he get based on the way he's been playing but it's best for the team if they want to reach their ceiling this year.

Circumstances change. It's no one's problem but Gordon's that he broke his leg, and he shouldn't even be suited up in td. We are trying to win, not rehab some has been deadbeat

Hayward seems to be playing stiff to me. Sometimes Tatum seems to play with a too upright posture, but this is different than Hayward. Smart is the opposite of both (ha).

I guarantee you Danny will try to dump this contract this offseason.

I think Brad should give him a couple of weeks off. That confidence we saw against Minnesota a couple of weeks ago is completely gone. He just looks scared to do anything at the moment because he think he’ll stuff it up.

He has no lift. Who knows if it will ever come back. I find it hard to bash him bashed off this.

Not his fault his leg broke like that.

He was always fairly athletic and mobile. Now he cannot get off the ground to contest layups.

Yah, I’ve reached this conclusion too.
