If Williams is the 4, then who would be the 5?
He seems to me to be a 5, exclusively.

I hope he is at the GSW game tonight, even in street clothes. Let him get a vicarious taste of high stakes basketball.

The form looks good on his shot. If he can shoot and make free throws, the future just got a lot brighter for RW and the Cs.

They need a G+ league. Too hard to judge guys amongst the riff raff. Take 2 from every team and have weekly good player games or something.... Not really serious, but every guy goes down and throws up crazy numbers, and I don’t think it helps development a ton.

It is better now than it was a few years ago. Some pretty good players got valuable time in the G-League, like Clint Capela. It is going to be much better i 5 years when every team has its own affiliate and there are more two-way players.

Takes time. They are still building the league from the ground up

Looked at the box score, and was frankly disappointed because I thought he just nailed 8 dunks. Sure is promising that he hit those mid range shots.

Yep, it's definitely better. Basically still have to take any numbers with a grain of salt, though. Like summer league. If you stand out, still means nothing. If you DON'T stand out, it's not a great sign, but it could mean nothing as well - you could be a great role player getting hampered by your teammates. Like I said, wasn't too serious about my griping... :)

I think that it does help the more serious young players.
Avery Bradley went down there, some years ago, and did alright when he came back to the big leagues.

I retract everything, lol. Was just an offhand, smart-*** comment about how the numbers don't mean jack down there. :)
Not that the league isn't useful or anything. It's just impossible to compensate for the difference between playing with the top 400-800 best players in the world and the top 200-300 that see meaningful time in the NBA.

The Claws with 3 games in the next 4 days--11 am today and then 2/1 and 2/2. I could see them playing Williams through that as a good opportunity to work on stuff--including that golden mid-range jumper!

Update: Looks like he's not even on the roster for today's game.

This Herald article said the Cs want Williams to race up the floor more quickly, too. Keep an eye on that.

I don't know where Robert Williams is. He's supposed to be with the Red Claws.

The league has gotten a lot better and there are actually guys in the NBA right now who probably wouldn't have had much of a shot like ten years ago. Guys like Monte Morris, Rodney McGruder, Quinn Cook. Christian Wood is down there now and he'd have no chance in the NBA if not for the G-League. Bruno Caboclo would be out of basketball if not for the G-League. Demetrius Jackson, Amile Jefferson, Chinanu Onuaku, I think these are all guys that wouldn't get a chance otherwise. Trevon Duval is a multi-year project that you can't keep on an NBA roster. It's never going to be stocked with amazing talent, but if you can get one potential NBA guy on each roster and then a bunch of guys he can play with, that's good enough.
