Re: Anthony Davis requests trade, part 3
Danny needs to get his old friend Lawrence Frank (now with the Clippers) on the phone ASAP. AD’s people says he will sign an extension with just four teams, the Lakers and three teams that seem to have seemingly have little or nothing to offer the Pelicans.
Well, with Danny’s help, the Clippers can win the day, and the Cs can help themselves as well.
How so?
Well the Clips owe the Cs a first rounder this year or next and as long as that is on their books it is impossible for them to trade a no. 1 pick before 2021 at the earliest. Apparently the Pelicans are not interested in waiting.
So the Clips trade Gallinari, Harrell and Gilgeous -Alexander—three good players under contract for at least one more year to the Pels for Anthony Davis and Solomon Hill, a contract the Pels are eager to dump because it has another year to go.
The Pels will be a lottery team next year, but not a disgrace. And they will have oodles of capspace.
The Clips also offer their 2019 and 2021 no. 1 picks.
They can do that because the Cs trade their rights to the 2019/20 Clips no. 1 pick back to the Clips in exchange for the Clips unprotected no. 1 pick in 2023 and top-10 protected in 2025, converting to a second rounder that year if the Clips are a bottom 10 team.
The Clips are in a desperate competition to get the attention of superstars and this will give them an enormous headstart toward getting Kawhi Leonard or Kevin Durant…guys who want to play in LA but do not want to play with LeBron.
They really need to do a deal like this.
They can get a max player and probably resign Tobias Harris which would give them an unreal frontline. Not a bad start.
And it screws over the Lakers and, which I think the Pels would like.
The Cs give up the chance at a possible no. 1 pick this year or next for two no. 1 picks, one of which is unprotected, down the road.
Just a thought. There is a side of me that would like to get this AD BS resolved, but I hate to see with with the Lakers.

It just says they think they can get him. But some in the org want the LA offer now.

i feel for the guy like I feel for Kyrie. Like how many times does he have to come in here and say the same thing? Nothing has changed, no reason to say it just to say it.

If Danny makes the trade, he will insist on a call with AD and a a new deal negotiated. He is on the record that he won't make a deal without a commitment. This has been his party line since he started. It was on a podcast the other day.

Sounds like he'll just say no and force the Pels to take the LAL deal. Which might be a factor in the Lakers thinking. They know they'll get Davis eventually, so they might get him for cheap later.

The LAkers offer is one of the best offers for a superstar that I've seen.
Essentially breaks down to , two Number 2 picks (Ball and Ingrem) plus Kusma a number 15 pick? and another two first rounders.
the fact that the picks were used and the players have been disappointing is the problem. The LAkers screwed themselves falling in love with BAll. (Thank you poor talent elevator MAgic)

Re: Anthony Davis requests trade, part 3
We are not trading Kyrie. Kyrie resigns here, he won't move to play with a player like Cousins to New York, he surely stays in a team that gives him a big chance to play NBA Finals every year for years coming. KD stays in GSW. No reason for him to move. And if AD ends up in LA, that is not that bad for us. It would only increase the chances Kawhi moves there as well this summer.
And if AD does not end up with the Lakers during this week, then we have a big chance to get him. He only does everything to try to push for a trade right now, he knows Lakers are the only realistic option right now. If they can't get him now, it's over. One interview with Ainge would pretty much fix everything that was said and he probably even helps us to potentially drop the price we would have to pay if he says he would not resign here.
Just relax, guys. We are in a superb condition even if we can't get AD. Kyrie can get off nights here, he is the guy here and he has a great chance to try to beat GSW with us.

Uh, no they don't.
Solomon Hill has two years left on his deal and eliminates LA's third max slot.
This actually means they think no one else is coming.
I wouldn't be so quick to think that. Hill has next year left on his deal. We pretty much know the price to dump that kind of money at this point. If the Lakers can maintain some future picks, they can get off that contract to a rebuilding team. If a 2023 1st round pick doesn't get it done, 23+25 surely would. Or 23 and a couple of seconds.
It took the Nuggets a protected 1st (top 12) and a 2nd to get off 21 million this year.

The offer isn't as great as it seems. It's quantity; not quality.
Kuzma is, by far, the best part of that offer, as he probably can become a really good scorer in this league, but his defense stinks and he isn't a great shooter.
Ingram was always an overrated prospect and is more Tayshaun Prince than he is Durant (which is what people were seriously comparing him to when he came out of college).
Ball hasn't even been able to stay on the floor and makes prime Rondo look like a good scorer.
The draft picks would be crap because they would be coming from a LeBron/Davis team.
Don't let the amount of assets the Lakers are including in that deal fool you. It isn't a great offer.

This is what we thought would happen with KG, too. We know how that turned out.

Stop comparing this dude to KG. They are not the same. He wants to go to LA and LA only. KG wanted to go to a winner and by getting Ray Boston was appealing. If Boston isn’t already attractive, nothing is changing that.

I've been down to trade for AD, but sometimes you have to realize there is probably some fire to all of this smoke with regards to AD wanting to play here. It's very unfortunate, especially considering how much Ainge has wanted him for years.
I don't expect him to give up on pursuing AD when the time comes, but man, it's not really looking great whatsoever. Guess something really rubs him the wrong way wrt to Boston, which kinda worries me considering how close he is to Kyrie. You'd hope/think that Kyrie has at least spoken well of the city to AD but who knows.

Where is the Pelican's insider? Which forum?

How long did it take you to build this little world that you live in?
Garnett wanted nothing to do with Boston even after we got Ray. It took some last-minute convincing for him to actually okay the deal. But sure. Let's rewrite history to fit your narrative.
I have made it very clear that I do not want to sell the farm for Anthony Davis, so I am actually with you in that regard, but I am not going to use that to irrationally push a narrative just because of what I want.

Re: Anthony Davis requests trade, part 3
Wow, come here after a couple of hours to see panic mode in full bloom and 30+ new pages. Couldn't read everything but this is my take:
Would you include Boston on your "list", knowing you would have to wait 8 months until you play the next game and four months until you were sure where you're going to live? Having the possibility to go to L.A. right now, where your agent certainly has a whole **** portfolio of sponsors already waiting for you? I know I wouldn't. I would use any trick in my book, including having my father state he didn't want to see me play there, just to get things done right now.
The one thing I wouldn't do is state it myself, in order not to burn bridges.
If - and that's a big if - Anthony Davis doesn't get traded, I'm ready to bet he will find Boston much more palatable in June. So let's wait and see.
