Is Anthony Davis the Most Squandered Superstar in NBA History?
I’m starting to question if we should even be considering making a move like this. Do we want to move all of our assets, SGA, Jerome, Tobias, Harrell, multiple first round picks, for a guy that has a 36% winning percentage? We’ll suddenly be the Pelicans all over again. One good player (maybe two if we land Kawhi) but no young players to build with, and very few assets to try and improve our roster with.
Stay the course. Keep hoping the KL rumors are true. Stay away from Jimmy the Cancer. Look for Krhis Middleton instead and look for help at the five. That’s my goal for next year.
Agree. When we're playing them, I'm just not afraid of AD. He has the numbers, but so did Kevin Love--best player on a crap team. No assurance you'll fit with other top players. Not a proven winner.
The jury's out on Jimmy Butler. Embiid and Simmons remind me of Griffin and CP together--each putting up his numbers but each in his own separate orbit. The Sixers have no center to gravitate to, just as there was no center of gravity with KAT and Wiggins. I think Butler's trying.

If it doesn't work out in Philly, Butler might take less than the max to join the Clips, esp if we get Kawhi. I think Jimmy's fire is a plus, but he just needs the place that needs and appreciates it.

Are we out of the sweepstakes for Free Agents now that we aren't in win now mode?

Re: 2019 & 2020 Free-Agents
Chris Mannix reporting on First Things First that Kyrie is annoyed with the narrative that other superstars are impacting his Free Agent decision.
That kind of nips in the bud that idea that he apologized to LeBron because he longs to be back with him.
Again....seems like the type of person who would actually own the challenge of bringing the Clippers to glory.
I read Ranma's misgivings about him. I don't see much difference between him and Kawhi....or him and any other idiot in their early 20s.
I think he's trying to mature and grow up. You can tell that by his calling LeBron and apologizing. He also distanced himself from his wild flat earth take (which I think is 2-3 years old now).
Given his clutch resume, he has my ear if he wants to come here.

Re: 2019 & 2020 Free-Agents
With the things Kyrie has been saying all season, he definitely hasn't matured or grown up. There's really no excuse for this stacked Celtics team to not be running away with the East right now, and the underachievement and drama surrounding them all season indicates poor leadership on Kyrie's part.
I'm admittedly biased because I've never liked Kyrie, but even setting that aside and thinking logically, I'd be very hesitant to hand the future of the franchise over to a guy like him right now.

I know Kyrie says some questionable things but the bigger issue Kyrie may be his lack of defense. Great clutch offensive player though.
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point.

Come On, AD...You Should Know Better
Galloisdaman wrote:AD may be making a Carmelo Anthony to the Knicks type of mistake. Instead of signing with a good team as a UFA he may force a team to gut itself to trade for him.
I don't think Davis is go as far as Anthony but it looks like you're right about not exercising good sense. Apparently, he seems to prefer the glory franchises in major media markets in the Lakers and Knicks. At least the Clippers and Bucks are still on his short list, but come on, the Clippers are situated in a better position with a better front office and owner. I guess he prefers the likelihood of teaming up with his good buddy Kyrie, so New York makes sense in that regard.

Re: 2019 & 2020 Free-Agents
How would the Celtics trade Horford, who has a player option after this season for $30 million?
Would the Pelicans take on that salary even for one year?

King James Thy Name is Hypocrite
So LeBron has issues when teams trade players and the double-standard applied to players for demanding trades and yet he has no problem with his agent publicly trying to manipulate a trade to a specific team while causing turmoil among his young teammates, which further involves the insanity of LaVar Ball.

Lakers Strike Out on AD at Deadline
The thing that myopic Lakers fans don't get is that their assets are damaged goods and have depreciated value. Even if the Celtics don't offer up Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown is more valuable than any single asset the Lakers are willing to give up. LeBron and Rich Paul knew that, which is why they had that public announcement for a trade demand on behalf of Anthony Davis to try to orchestrate a deal with the Pelicans.
My primary concern was keeping AD away from the Lakers. Even if he is eventually traded to the Celtics, there's a better chance of him leaving after a year in Boston than there would be had he joined the Lakers. In any case, the Clippers have enough assets to be able to make a competitive bid once he is available most likely during the day of the upcoming draft.
