De’Aaron Fox

Does Ja’ have the explosiveness Fox does?

Leaping I would say yes. He is not as quick and fast as Fox though. But Im not sure anyone in the NBA is as quick and fast as Fox.

not quite as wiry or quick-twitch as Fox, and definitely not as fast in a straight line, though probably a better leaper.

Fox has a relatively wide body. He’s sturdy idk know what his weight is but I don’t imagine it’s terrible for his height. Morant looks like he could he fall over if a breeze hit him from the right angle.

Apparently fox was 175. He’s still miles bigger than Morant imo. Just visually

They look pretty similar when it comes to their physical profiles.

Yea I’d say that’s similar. Fox has for sure added weight since entering the league though.

And first year Fox struggled because lack of strength. I admittedly wasn’t high on Fox, I thought he’d struggle in the half court but he’s shooting above 70% inside 3 ft this year. Probably one of my worst misses.

Still Morant looks even smaller to me somehow. Apparently also 175 but that weigh in feel like it’s coming off of eating 40 hotdogs on Coney Island and asking for the prize money in quarters.

Ya Im not too worried about his body. It reminds me of Fox and Conley's. The jumper and the defense is the thing that scares me the most.

Fox was tiny at Kentucky. even smaller than Morant now arguably. That was his biggest drawback as a prospect.

btw, Morant is a soph...but age wise they'd be almost identical by the time they were drafted.

Very similar. Slight up body and noticeable definition in their legs.

The stand-out issue there is Morant/Lavine defensively - that's not ideal. But other than that, we desperately need a quality on-ball option as both a scorer and facilitator, and I think Morant can be somewhat prolific in that role. With Lavine/Porter/Markkanen, and hopefully WCJ getting more of a green light from 3 next season, the spacing will be ideal.

I would maybe be a bit concerned about the cumulative decision making between Morant and Lavine, they're not bad but neither are super high IQ decision guys in that way, be a bit concerning for them to have the keys (coming up to the deadline I was liking Lonzo as a fit because of that aspect in particular).

I think though Lavine shouldn't be in your long term plans. If Morant gets drafted by Chic and plays well, it might be positive to trade one of the two when the selling price is at an all time high, similar to what Phoenix should have done with Booker.

Personally, I am a fan of Lavine and think we should keep him around. I think Book is a fine piece for the Suns as well - though the contract is massive.

Ideally, I would want to keep Morant and Lavine together. I'm not going to say they're a terrible fit, because I don't see any issues offensively, but defense is obviously a concern. We've got great spacing, so plenty of room for Morant to drive and make plays with the ball in his hands, and feed more dependent scorers like Otto/Lauri/WCJ. Lavine's off-ball numbers are very impressive as well and I think being able to move him off the ball and spot up more will benefit him.

With the defense, Dame and CJ work, but there's probably a slightly higher level of decision making between those 2, and they're surrounded by versatile, defensive guys. So it is an issue. That's why I'm desperately looking for any potential Morant can show on the defensive end. He has the tools, especially if he gets stronger, he can certainly make defensive plays, but I can only hope that the immense usage going down in the NBA would improve his possession to possession defense, like many had argued was a factor with Trae the year before.

FWIW, Morant as a soph is only 4 months older than Fox was as a freshman.

That doesn’t account for the extra year Morant has had to workout in college facilities, but age-wise they were comparable.

What was that pass? Did he throw a spiral? That’s just freaky.

Bulls and Sun will be in a desperate situation if they do not lift it ...- It works better than Fox and Sexton, there is not too much fanatism and excessive spending on both sides,i did not work on a team statue ..

This Murray St. team has more talent than Washington, obv their level of competition is also much lower

That UW team was atrocious, Thybulle, Crisp and Dickerson as sophomores, Romar who is completely out as a coach, and nothing else

They had 0 offensive talent outside of Fultz

Got to see him the last two games. He looks like the #2 prospect to me. Looking forward to seeing him play in the tournament an then really looking forward to him playing for the Bulls next year. He would instantly transform that team into an exciting team to watch ala what Trae did for ATL this yea.

well it's happened in the past where the best prospect was passed on, but yeah pretty unlikely, but to me is somewhat reasonable if PHO or CHI has the 1. They'd probably consider trying to trade down 1 spot to pick up assets but ultimately passing on Zion would require them to get a haul for trading down.
