If we are comparing 2nd year Ferguson to 2nd year Butler then Ferguson is already better than Butler. If we are comparing them at age 20 then Ferguson wins. If we talking about current Jimmy Butler then Ferguson won't be there until the '20-'21 season. Ferguson has already demonstrated he is a legitimate 3&D player and is slowly increasing his offensive game. Next year I'm looking for that jump in ball handling and passing. In '20-'21 I expect him to be the 2nd best player on the team, between PG and Adams, as he emerges as a top 15 player.

Keep in mind that Butler didn't make his first all-star game until his age 25 season.

Even if we think Ferguson has an all star caliber ceiling, I still don't think Jimmy is the greatest comp. Jimmy seems to be a much more physical player whereas Ferguson has length and athleticism. I was watching Jimmy last night shoot free throws and I don't think Ferguson will ever have arms like that. Going back to his days at Marquette Jimmy was still much more muscular frame. Ferguson and Jimmy just don't have the same body types. I can't really think of a great comp for Ferguson's ceiling but I think its closer to a shooting guard version of George or Otto Porter than it is Jimmy Butler.

I think Ferg is going to turn in to Paul George.

Anyway, are we going to get anyone decent in the buyout? Seems like we're going to get either Kanter or Brewer which is pretty depressing considering we just dumped them.

Beasley got waived. Presti try to get him the 2nd time around?

Honestly it'd be a pretty big failure if all we get is Beasley after what other contenders pulled off during the deadline. I'd resign Brewer before I get Beasley, I just don't see him having any value over our guys right now.

Markieff Morris or Ben McLemore would be decent additions. I don't think there is anything else out there I'd care about.

Roberson and Abrines would be nice additions. I think those two could put us over the edge if we can get them.

Morris is probably done for the season with his injury. And McLemore already signed a 10-day with Toronto. He's a 2013 draftee though, so Presti is probably still after him.

Roberson yeah. Abrines not so much :( (still better than nothing though)

I am all for either Beasley or Avery Bradley (or both) if Robertson and Abrines are still out for the longer period of time.

I mean, it really can't hurt. If they give you some scoring spark of the bench, great. If they suck, you just cut them and that's it.

Bradley is in the buy out market? I don't like him but wouldn't hurt. Don't want a guy like Beasley (locker room issues etc.)

Thunder just waived Abrines. So I guess they couldn’t trade him on deadline day.

The Thunder have 3 roster spots open.

I’m guessing Burton gets a guaranteed contract now.

Now we need to get at least two guys.

Burton is one for sure. I think they might try to add both a wing and a big (for insurance)

So how was not applying for an injury exception the right decision again?

They were as deep into the tax as they were willing to go. They aren't chasing championships. They are apparently at the financial level where they can break even with a first round playoff loss.

I assume we still have to pay his full salary, and it counts against the cap. If so, that makes the deadline an unquestionable failure.

Surely PHX would have taken a 2rp to save $0.7m dollars in their buyout of Ellington. Now we’re playing Burton significant minute as we gear up for the playoffs.
